It was Friday night and the guests were having a drink out in the court area before midnight to be told off by the owner for every one to go to bed. Had a real school camp vibe to it. Mattress was foam and hard as hell. There's other places to stay that are much closer!

We are sorry you were not happy with your stay. We have new mattresses on order for all the dorms. On the night you stayed a group of drunk & noisy revelers on their way to a rugby match in the city caused complaints from other paying guests and decided that throwing eggs around the property would be fun. I guess it did cause a bit of a school camp feel. We try really hard to create a balance between those who want to party and those who prefer a quieter stay.

REALLY close to the ferry and really a nice hostel. The hostel is large and has plenty of spaces to spread out, and the kitchen is large and well equipped. The beds are wooden and the showers are hot and the wifi is good. They also do free pudding at night, which was WONDERFUL. I don't get to splurge and buy dessert very often while backpacking, so it was a night treat. I don't really have any complaints about the place! I would definitely stay here again.

A lovely hostel in Picton with great chocolate pudding everynight!! Very cosy and comfortable with the log fire and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. I enjoyed the hot tub even though it was rainy and windy! A great extra feature as well as the free breakfast and free pudding. There were hot water bottles provided but with the heaters in the room it was plenty warm enough. The free wifi was a little patchy and didn't reach the dorm but this wasn't a problem. Overall great value for money!

The hostel itself is ok, it's close to the town and the ferry crossing. The actual hostel itself is clean and adequate. It is Shame about the atmosphere, the people there are very un welcoming, rude and basically not nice people. I would only recommend this place if you are looking just for a bed and nothing else. It did ruin our stay in picton are really glad we booked only 2 nights if we had booked anymore I would have demanded our money back and stayed somewhere else. Don't stay here

I had a good time at Sequoia backpackers. Booked for one night but stayed 3 because I was waiting to do the Queens Charlotte track. Or maybe the Chocolate pudding with Ice cream had something to do with it :-). Clean hostel, nice atmosfeer, big kitchen and very good Wifi. Also Staff was very friendly and helpfull.

Great hostel, very homey, it was one of our favourites! Free breakfast and pudding, blankets and hot water bottles. The location is good, just a short walk from the centre of picton. Has everything you could want and the staff are great

Very friendly and helpful staff. All of the basic amenities you would expect from a NZ BBH hostel. The chocolate pudding was delicious and the hot tub was relaxing. Picton is a small town, but the hostel was well located regardless.

Really nice hostel. The girl on reception was extremely friendly and helpful. Facilities were good, beds comfortable. Nice stove in the lounge area was warm and welcoming! Free wifi in the hostel and free chocolate pudding each night made this place all the more impressive. Would definitely stay again

Free wifi, free chocolate pudding with ice cream in the evening (yummy!!) The doors of each room can't be locked and there are no lockers. It's not in the town centre, but it's only a short walk to get there. The kitchen is big and the common area nice and comfortable.

Wow, what a great example of a hostel. The room was clean, big and comfortable. There was so much space for 4 of us traveling and the grounds of the hostel are awesome. Excellent value for the money.

Gorgeous little gem of a hostel, was a relief to find somewhere so well-run, homey and welcoming after staying at a sub-standard place in Kaikoura. Staff brilliant, comfy common room with a fire when it's cold, free wifi, excellent facilities - they've thought of everything. Free hot water bottles, towels, secure lockers. I stayed in the female dorm which was spacious and had a huge bathroom. They do drop offs at the ferry terminal too which was super helpful. Big thumbs up

FREE CHOCOLATE PUDDING AND ICE CREAM. Enough said. A bit far from town but not too bad. There were no locks on the doors. The hot pool was nice, and so was the outdoor seating area. Pretty good wifi. Would return.

For my mate who hates soft beds. She would have hated it, the bed was ridiculously soft so anyone who likes a bit more support from a bed don't stay here. Others than this, everything was great for the night I stayed there.
