First stop for me in the South Island. Tim on reception was a LEGEND! He helped me plan my trip for NZ, giving me some great ideas about where to stay and things to do while I was here. Super helpful and patient with me. Great hostel.

We've stayed in a private double room ensuite, which had everything we needed. The hostel offers off street parking, free Internet (50 MB for everyone and every night) and a clean and well equipped kitchen. The staff is nice and offers free chocolate pudding with free ice cream every night to you. Only thing we could say is, that the hostel is not in the middle of the town. But in a reasonable10 min walks you will find all the things (restaurant, supermarket, etc.) you may need.

What a great hostel! Would definitely recommend to others. It is a 10min walk from the harbour but it's worth it. We had a double room with ensuite and it was so good value. I believe the dorms were good too. Kitchen is huge. You can socialise if you wish or chill out.

The lack of room locks was a bit of a surprise especially with there not being a large area to lock things up. It adds a bit of piece of mind to be able to lock things up in the room in a cabinet of some type to make sure your belongings are still there when you return.
