Very small hostel near Chinatown MRT. When I arrived I had trouble getting in, as the door to the reception on the 2nd floor was locked and no one answered the phone. Found some people near the entrance on the 3rd floor who welcomed me in. Everyone I met was friendly. The bed in the dorm was comfortable and there was AC. There was only one bathroom, which is not enough as it got crowded in the morning. Good place to crash, but I would not stay there for more than one night.

Mediocre place to stay for cheap on a quick stopover. Good location, although signage could be better. As for the hostel itself, it was a tiny apartment with bunk beds and a tinier bathroom. Apparently there were more facilities in a separate apartment above ours, but it wasn't mentioned to us. The staff showed us how open the door and then disappeared for the rest of our stay. Also, blasting the A/C at full power while only providing super thin sheets meant we had to dress up to avoid freezing!

The guest paid $33.00 SGD for 2 persons. He knew he was checking into a budget dormitory. At least, he admitted that the room was super cool, but it was surprising he did not know how to use the Aircon remote controller. The WIFI is fibre optics at 1000 mbps, and there was a fridge and washing machine for his use. What else does he expect to get in a budget backpackers hostel than these?

It is good that I did not find Andrew the owner who is highly praised. So, I can make it straight. This hostel is one of the worst I have been in 10 years. It does not mean it is bad. It has almost everything you could ask for but on the low-end quality. Reception: hide in the room Security: excellent Bed: not quite clean Air Con: not working good Toilet: kind of clean but exceptionally 3rd world Atmosphere: like a dorm of locals There are better cheap hostels closer to china town.

Our Hostel caters for both professionals and tourists, as well as low-end budget travelers. This Thai guest booked a bed in a budget dormitory with 10 beds, charging him S$17.60 for one's nights stay. He told us he would arrive after midnight; so, one of our staff waited in the dorm for him after midnight. How could he be so ungracious as to say "there is no reception except the staff giving him security within the dorm." We expect riff raffs for budget dorms, not a rude show of ingratitude

I stayed at the dormitory which is actually a narrow hall stuffed with some uncomfortable bunk beds. The "desk" of the hostel is inside (!) of this room, the unfriendly staff kept talking loudly inside until very late. I had to be quite rude to make them shut up. AC is available, but does not work properly, because the door is open most of the time. The so highly praised fast WIFI was one of the slowest I had in Asia. Lots of mosquitos and not backpacker atmosphere at all.

The inconvenience caused to this guest on 2 May is regrettable , as on that day, the Hostel changed to Fibre Optics and quite a lot of work was going on, resulting in some noise. The guest only booked for one night and paid only S$20.00; so cannot expect Hostel features.

Decent place for staying a night but not really what I expected from the online description. The proprietor is very nice, location is a little bit out of the way but within walking distance to the MRT.

Andrew is SUCH a helpful person, but aside from that fact, the location and security were the only good things. There's only a small "lounge" area which includes the kitchen and bathrooms. And the kitchen is severely lacking. Only a hot water heater to cook any food, a fridge and sink. No microwave. Wi-Fi didn't work on the 3rd floor, but this is being fixed. Shower stalls are extremely small.

Well, this is not really a hostel, it is just two dorm rooms, one bathroom and a tiny entrance hall, all located in a big apartment building. No kitchen, only hot water dispenser, and that's it. Pros: - good location, close to Chinatown MRT station - a lot of cheap street food around Cons: - the air in dorm room was very humid all the time, so clothes didn't dry, the floor was wet and slippery - one bathroom is not enough when all rooms are full - wi-fi signal was not stable

The guest was mistaken about the Hostel. The Hostel is much larger and has all the facilities that she did not appear to know about. The Hostel has five rooms. The guest just happened to stay in one of the rooms, just a small section of the Hostel which is divided into 2 floors. She just happened to stay on the floor below, and did not realize that she could use facilities like the fridge, kitchen, shower room, WIFI and toilets on the top floors.

Great location in China town, and the owner Andrew is a really great guy. I was surprised when he spoke conversational French with my friend, and then quoted Shakespeare with me. Fascinating history, and really helpful advice.

It's most convenience location and quite place to stay in Singapore's most popular place. Just right below the Hostel a 24 hrs. convenience store for drinks and snacks. Always my choice to stay in this Hostel.

Not in the real hostel, some chambers on a supermarket near a parking. There was nobody there, we had the phone the reception (the hostel is somewhere else??) A lot of beds but all without people, sometimes strange people passed by... Not really dirty, just very old, a lot of noise of the pipes

We have taken in this guest, although renovation was going on. Really apologise for his stay within an empty hostel under servicing during the first week of September, 2013.

I stayed at the NO 'Service World' on Chin Swee Road. The hostel was on the second floor of a partially deserted dirty industrial/residental block with a fabulous view of car park. The hostel was more like a scummy council studio flat. The shower/toilet/kitchen/reception is the same room. It was unmanned by no member of staff for my stay. And for 2 nights i had the place to myself... though there was a 'family' who i thought may have lived there also in the next room. Awful stay.

On the day the guest stayed, some renovation was going on; hence she had the place to herself in a quiet room. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at service world. The staff and owner (Andrew) were very accommodating and friendly. The rooms were clean and beds comfortable. The room had great aircon and a fan. Breakfast was help yourself, whatever time you required it and consisted of toast and coffee. The location was fantastic, right in the heart of Chinatown, with supermarket underneath and mrt station a 2 minute walk away. Overall fantastic value for money.

The bed is quite firm and good, so you can expect a good night's sleep after a long day travelling around Singapore. The staff is attentive to you, so you won't be left out in the cold. Cleanliness could be better at the kitchen-bathroom area though, as the things were messy there. Overall, it's ok. Don't expect too much.

Absolutely phenomenal place to stay. The owner Andrew makes this hostel stay worthwhile. One of the nicest, most genuine guys there is. He will go out of his way to make sure you have the best stay and best time possible in Singapore. Location is in Chinatown close to the MRT, large shops and plazas. Small dorms are key with few beds yielding more space. Price hard to beat. Overall, fantastic place to stay in Singapore.

This hostel should be for those who have very limited budget or who cannot find somewhere else better. Not recommend for female as they will not be happy as there's nothing to enjoy. However, the security and staff is good. Location, and facility is just fair.

This guest was mistaken. Although the hostel is small, we still have two staff members working in rotation up to midnight. Although the staff office is locked, that does not mean no staff is on duty. Just phone in or knock on the office door to get attention. You cannot expect staff members mingling with you near your dorm beds, attending to your needs. This is a backpackers hostel where lodgers are expected to serve themselves. Period.
