The place is nice, with beautiful garden. But, they said they would send to pick up from the train station and not only never showed up, they did not even say an apology or explanatiin after. The post say they will complimentary drop of to the station and they did not. The staff is nice, but the owners are not.
I loved stay here. The family was absolutely wonderful and I felt like a family member while I was there. The garden was beautiful and when I needed anything like a cab someone was called who they trusted and gave an extremely fair price. I never had to worry about a thing while I was her. In fact the family, some guests, and myself stayed out by a campfire every night and talked like old friends. I will be returning here.

Not so bad, good price/quality ratio, not so near to city center and attraction.
Really nice place to stay, beautiful garden and surroundings - great for some respite from the busy city. Very friendly also. Overall had a lovely stay.

We had a lovely stay in Shahar Palace and wished we could have stayed longer. The owners were very kind and helpful (Colonel Singh was waiting outside our carriage when we got off the train, even though it arrived almost 8 hours late) and the staff never hassled us for tips. The rooms were very clean and nicely decorated, and there was a large balcony outside the rooms where we were served breakfast. I would highly recommend staying here.
What a lovely place!Beautiful garden where we spent ages drinking lemon tea.very tasty food &very clean which is not always the case in other places. The owner can be a bit patronising & even tell u off:D, but his wife is really lovely & always has time to chat with u.You just feel like at home.this was the best place we stayed in India. staff very courteous & nice. Even though they did not reply 2 our email re: pick up from train station but tuk tuk was still waiting for us.Go there & enjoy! :)
Really nice surroundings, nice rooms. Cleanliness could be a little better. Great food and service at affordable prices. Owner happy to help and give good advice about jaipur.
Set in a large and peaceful garden well away from traffic noise, but it is quite a long way out from the centre of town. Staff friendly. Room had character but it, along with the bathroom, was quite dirty. Bathroom had a water heater - after the 20 minute warm-up time, the water was hot but only a trickle. TV unreliable. Did not sample the food because of the dirt in the room and the grubby state of the menu.
we had goodtime there prety nice and good location and relaxing
The Shahar Palace is the jewel of Jaipur. The tranquility and friendlynes is a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the main centre. You are away from the city centre but it is only a short rickshaw ride and the feeling you get when you arrive there after a hectic day is well worth it.
We really loved our stay at this hostel - one of the best we've stayed in on our trip so far!! It's run by a retired tank col. and his wife, who are really lovely - they will do what they can to look after you. The food the prepare is very good too, as well as some of the best tea! The gardens are really gorgeous as well - lots of chickens, a duck, some cute dogs, an occassional peacock... The location is excellent as well - it is a little out of town (not far at all, but enough for some breathing space), but you will be very thankful of that - we were - but still only less that 50 rupees to just about anywhere you will want to get to. Also, the col. will be able to book taxis or autos for you. We would recommend this place to anyone visiting Jaipur - it was almost worth going there just for the hostel, let alone the sights of the city. Great place, great owners!! Thank you!
If you enjoy the out of town garden peace and quiet ,this is great. Its a hotel run by a very friendly family. Its not a travellers hostel. The service is generous and attentive.I was completely welcomed and made to feel at home.

Very good place to stay in Jaipur. Rupee 30 by rickshaw to anyplace in the centre. So outside the busy and noisy citycentre. Staff was very helpfull and picked us up from the trainstation early morning for free! Wonderfull garden to relax, eat & drink or whatever you have in mind. Every room has a small balcony in front of it, where you can have breakfast, lunch or diner too. Great value!
