Nice place to stay no more than two nights. The rooms are ok, clean and not too small but the bathroom smells really bad and the building looks way too old.

Very helpful in directing me to both an ATM, and to the train ticket office. Thank you!

Good accommodations. We liked the fact that chargers were provided for our cellphones and camera. Friendly and helpful staff. Walking distance to the Bund and to the Metro stations.

There is no bar, pool table or something that people can enjoy together. Just a room with tables and computers. there is no atmosphere at all... I had to make a local phone call, they told me I can use their phone and just after I finished my call they said they charge 5 yuan per minutes. when i didn't know how long i was talking they just made up a 20 yuan charge. That PISSED ME OFF! it was outrages, the price and their bill.

The Shanghai Dock Bund Hostel has an incredible location just a couple blocks away from The Bund and East Nanjing Rd, great English-speaking staff, and clean rooms. Nearly everything in our room seemed relatively new, the bedframes were solid (always a good thing with bunks), and the TV was a nice plus. I definitely recommend this spot to anyone visiting Shanghai on a budget.

i wouldn't recommend the 4th floor. it's more like a student dorm and they were hanging out and smoking in the hallway 24/7. the staff were excellent though and really understanding. they moved me to the 3rd floor and the room was much nicer too. the cleaners don't clean the room unless you tell them. there isn't much of an atmosphere - i would consider it more a budget hotel. but for the price you do get great service and location. thanks joycelyn!

Nice location very close to the Bund. I found the common-floor area (4th floor) to be compact and a little noisy -- it gets especially busy in the common bathroom. Not a bad deal for the price. Just don't expect a ton of space or tranquility.

Air conditioning was not functioning properly, it didn't get any warmer.

Quite a nice hostel, in a very central location. We had no problems with the staff, and were very helpful. Everything is also clean. Some new driers are needed though for doing laundry, or just fixing.

Mix of foreign and Chinese guests during my stay; It's laid out like a hotel with carpet hallways and plenty of rooms; No bar or kitchen or pool table at this hostel but it does have a common room and, staying in one of the dorms, I found it very easy to socialize; Hot water dispenser but bring your own cup; Big lockers but no formal luggage storage after checkout (luggage can be left on upper-floor hallway if checking out early and leaving luggage back); Location 200m from Muse club

I stayed there twice, good lactation near the bund but staff really not professional: each time my friends and I go there there's a proroblem with rooms, especially if you book a dorm: we had booked a whole dorm for 8 persons, we had to split into two groups because of their lack of oraganization. One month later my girl friends went back them, they had booked 3 beds in a female dorm, they were told it was full and then had to go sleep with guys. Apart from that the hostel is okay and cheap.

Awesome hostel! Great location near The Bund and East Nanjing Road. Good facilities, several showers and toilets are available for use. (I was on the 4th floor, in a mixed dorm). There is a computer room open from 8am til midnight. I really appreciated having the computer room open in the morning so I didn't have to wake my roommates when I made calls back home. Also, I thought the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. I'd highly recommend staying here!

We stayed in a double room ensuite, which was allright, the location was good for exploring the central areas of Shanghai. There were some drawbacks however. It was February, so the room was really cold at first and the heater wasn't that effective. We managed but probably wouldn't come back in wintertime.. Also the system for the wifi is not that convenient, or at least we encountered some problems with it. Otherwise it was an okay stay.

Not far from Nanjing East Rd, maybe 15 min. walk, and about 10 min. walk to a huge clothes etc. market area in the other direction where there is also Tiantong subway. The staff were great helping with what I needed each time. The room was nice and clean, and the shower was great. The beds nice and soft too, more western style than the solid hard beds I have had in many budget hotels. And the rooms are not so cold that you need the heater on all the time.

The hostel doesn't really have much of a common room so the atmosphere in the place isn't great. Having said that, the location is great just a couple of minutes walk from the Bund in one direction and a subway station in the other. They also have some good fried dumpling places nearby too. They did mess up our reservation which meant we had to move rooms twice but we did get a twin private instead of a dorm for one night, so I guess we can't complain!

Thank you Dock Bund Hostel! I REALLY enjoyed staying there! Away from the crowd, but not too far from main places we wanted to go and only 6-10 min walk from the Metro Station. I LOVE the staffs. They were all very friendly, are hard workers, very patience and HELPFUL! They deserve some BONUS! I'm a person who LOVES to ask detailed questions to make sure I get things correctly, and the staffs answered all of my questions. Our room was CLEAN and NEAT! Facilities are GREAT! Will come back there!
