The location is the best part of this hostel, very easy to walk to the Bund. Quiet place, English speaking staff, very helpful. Would stay there again.

the location of the hostel is great, you are just at the bund. the rooms are clean when you get them. cleaning of the rooms only contains clearing the rubbish bin and hanging up new towels - floors were never cleaned during our stay (10 days). staff is sometimes friendly and sometimes in a funny mood. seems like the are just friendly when needed - working for a good rating. we actually choose this hostel because of the ratings and I don't believe the ratings are correct for this hostel.

not really nice, wifi bad working, 'social room' rather empty, no space for your luggage in the room, not a good atmosphere, not a nice place for backpacking. Staff not really helpful except when they AB-SO-LU-TLY want you to comment their hotel on website,...

I really have a nice stay in this hostel. It was for one night but I really felt at ease, it was clean, very well situated and the staff was really helpfull and nice. I strongly recommend this hostel for your stay in Shanghai. The location is just perfect for anything you have to do in Shanghai.

My room was very small, which isn't normally a problem, but the air conditioning only blew warm moldy air and the room was hot and stuffy with very little ventilation. I did not realize that is what I was paying to stay in before I got there.

This hostel was very clean and the bathrooms were cleaned regularly but the staff spoke very little English and were very unprofessional, rude and unhelpful.

Nice place to stay no more than two nights. The rooms are ok, clean and not too small but the bathroom smells really bad and the building looks way too old.

Very helpful in directing me to both an ATM, and to the train ticket office. Thank you!

Good accommodations. We liked the fact that chargers were provided for our cellphones and camera. Friendly and helpful staff. Walking distance to the Bund and to the Metro stations.

Very great youth hostel, good place (10 minutes from Nanjing Road and the subway), clean bathroom, good beds.

There is no bar, pool table or something that people can enjoy together. Just a room with tables and computers. there is no atmosphere at all... I had to make a local phone call, they told me I can use their phone and just after I finished my call they said they charge 5 yuan per minutes. when i didn't know how long i was talking they just made up a 20 yuan charge. That PISSED ME OFF! it was outrages, the price and their bill.

The Shanghai Dock Bund Hostel has an incredible location just a couple blocks away from The Bund and East Nanjing Rd, great English-speaking staff, and clean rooms. Nearly everything in our room seemed relatively new, the bedframes were solid (always a good thing with bunks), and the TV was a nice plus. I definitely recommend this spot to anyone visiting Shanghai on a budget.

i wouldn't recommend the 4th floor. it's more like a student dorm and they were hanging out and smoking in the hallway 24/7. the staff were excellent though and really understanding. they moved me to the 3rd floor and the room was much nicer too. the cleaners don't clean the room unless you tell them. there isn't much of an atmosphere - i would consider it more a budget hotel. but for the price you do get great service and location. thanks joycelyn!

Nice location very close to the Bund. I found the common-floor area (4th floor) to be compact and a little noisy -- it gets especially busy in the common bathroom. Not a bad deal for the price. Just don't expect a ton of space or tranquility.
