You can't ask for a better Shanghai location (once you find the place) and everyone was very friendly and helpful (pluse they have great coffee!)
my only concern is they do not have sheets and i don't think they wash their covers... often. i had red bug bits all over my body afterwards. the bed provided only had a comforter and no clean sheets. not sure how clean the place is but i enjoyed everything else... thanks to the wonderful staff for a great stay!
The hostel is located well and the room was clean. The staff all had great attitudes. But I didn't like that the only real common area was the restaurant, so I didn't feel like I could just hang out. I asked for help from a girl on the afternoon staff to order a train ticket, but she couldn't really explain in English how to get to the station to buy the ticket, and didn't really offer the help I needed. Also, there were worms crawling in a puddle in the left shower stall.
I was not a very clean place but nothing that one cannot deal with... The staff was really helpful in giving directions! The location is nut very good though =(
The staff was kind, but chaotic: they mixed our clothes with clothes of others while doing our laundry; they first allowed us to stay in the hostel for free for a couple of hours more and then wanted us to pay for it; etc. However, none of the problems were serious and we finally did not have to pay (it was a misunderstanding among the staff members). Otherwise it was a very nice and pleasant place and we enjoyed it.
The dorms are absolutely tiny and the lockers are pretty small so it is difficult to get a bag in so I just had to put my valuables in the locker. The staff are ok, not great and the food is pretty expensive and not very good. The building is beautiful and living on the historic street was great with all the antiques shops. You're less than 10 mins walk from a subway, not really in the centre of the city but very easy to get around and near a tourist bus station for the canal towns.
Great for if you just need a place to stay for the night before going to the airport. The staff were quite unhelpful as only one spoke English. Unfortunately he was quite rude and very unhelpful. Overall though, the place is a really nice upscale bar in a very nice area of town. There is an airport bus that only costs 22 and is located down the street from the hostel one or so blocks past the arch. You take a left at the "T" and it is parked in front of the McDonalds. 5 minute walk.
This hostel is so adorable! Located on a little cobblestone street, the inside decor is quaint and everything is clean. You won't get a better value for the amount of money they charge.

Not enough power sockets in rooms. The hostel staff was very helpful. Locker keys should be given on arrival to all guests and should not have to be asked for.
A good location without a staff matching up with it. Not well organised and not aware of the conditions of booking, it really worked when we didn't need them.
Nice people, but disorganized. Could not locate my booking. Eventually ended up in a 6 bed room instead of a 4 bed. No working computers. My passport left unattended on public counter. I rescued it 30 minutes later. My large bottle of Fanta disappeared from the luggage holding area after I checked out. Nice area though, and easy to get around - fairly close to transport.
I think it is a nice Hotel (rather than a Hostel). We liked our room very much and everything was at nice at any time. Unfortunately we had the impression that the staff was a little confused, we stayed one night extra what the next day the gentlemen at the desk was not really aware of. Furthermore our laundry was more or less forgotten, when we got it back it was smelling as lying wet too long in the machine, we had to wash everything again at our next destination. But overall it was a goodstay
THE PLACE TO BE !!! We had a very good moment in this place-Everybody is very friendly and helpful - They do their best to help you out to find shops, places -Their english is good enough to communicate and they really do their best to help you out to find places, shops... Just 2 things to be aware of for families : (even if that didn't mind) all public places (bar, restaurant...) are smokers - And if you can choose your bedroom, prefer the secund or the third level, the basement can be noisy

From what I could tell about the lobby the hostel was very nice.
Too dirty and messy! Cockcroaches are there~ And the staff was not kind at all!!
Excellent location if you want to move around. The train station is just 200 meters from the Hostel, busses to all the famous locations leave from train station. The staff very friendly, nice to hang around in the lobby and they help you with whatever they can. Also, there is a nice view if you go to the roof. Not officially a roof terrace, but a good place to have some beers in the evening.
nice decorated private garden style hostel, more like a boutique hotel, anyway, highly recommended
Really nice place to stay. Staff was friendly and able to speak a little bit of English, not much but it was more than we expected.
