The rooms are beautiful and clean, the location is at the center of old-town of Shangri-la, which is nice. The problem was that the staff barly speaks english and there is no map of the city. On the other hand- they really tried and was very friendly, nice and kind- invited us for new years dinner with them :)
Hostel was hard to find because it was in an alley behind Turtle Hill. Got lost, but the owner was nice enough to go out and find us. He was really kind and the only person we found in Shangri-La who could speak some words of English. The hostel itself was great. We had a private room, which was excellent. Clean and comfortable with a heater inside. But I saw the dorm rooms and the shared bathrooms and I can't say I would stay there.
Very good service. Electric heating blanket provided, customer may request heater if too cold. A few minutes walk to the Yue Guang Square and the temple. Very quiet at night. Eating and transportation are nearby.

Bit hard to find by yourself but the airport pickup saved the hassle. Lovely double room and Kyle was most helpful in dealings. Definitely stay again. Not in the burnt done old town but still a great location in the remaining old town.
