You are allways with other people, mind that they could come back late in the night or get up very early in the morning. I was sleeping with other 12 young ladies, so practicaly no sleep at all :) but everything else was great - breakfast, safety, friendly atmosphere, spirit of this hostel - perfect.

The receptionist did not really know what she was talking about with the price of the room or how to split up the card cost. The hostel was good though because no one was drunk or high in the rooms or the entire building. The bathrooms were pretty clean and the room we had was good. The location was very good, right by the Anne Frank house. I would recommend this hostel to anyone who wants a relaxing place to come back and sleep in.

Such a great experience. I chose it because the Christian background and drug/alcohol policy made me feel safe, but that wasn't all I found. The bunk bed and pillow was actually better than my bed in my college dorm, the free hot breakfast was yummy, I felt safe, the staff was helpful, it was nice and quiet, and the dining hall/lounge had trendy decorations and a friendly atmosphere. This was my first stay at a hostel and I hope I'm always this lucky. Thanks!

An amazing hostel! This is a wonderful place to start your adventures in Amsterdam. The Shelter Jordan is in a neighborhood of Amsterdam right near the Anne Frank house. The center of the city is within walking distance but there are also many tram and bus stops so easy to access. The single sex rooms are really nice, The hot breakfast in the mornings = amazing. Clean and welcoming. There are even evening activities and a walking tour. What a wonderful experience at the Shelter.

I stayed in the biggest dorm, no electricity to charge in the room, no lock for the door, room is big, but not big enough for 18 beds....So you don´t have place to hang up your towel or put down your things, for the price it is ok, and the hostel is so quiet compared to other hostels in amsterdam, I really love it, although not in my dorm, a old man coughs every night, anyway this is better than people who come back from party at 4am.

Shelter Jordan is located in a quiet side street in the Jordaan district, which has lots of nice old houses, little shops and restaurants. It's not directly in the centre, yet we were able to access all major attractions within 20mins by foot - and walking around in Amsterdam itself is quite enjoyable. The rooms (with Wi-Fi!) and facilities are basic but clean. The free breakfast was great. I'd recommend this hostel if you prefer to explore the city during the day and enjoy a good night's sleep.

Not a bad place at all. Situated in the lovely Jordaan, the location can't be beat. Quite near Anne Frank museum and many others. Not the place if you're into even casual imbibement. Strict no Alchohol/No drugs policy. Food is pretty good, internet is kind of horrible. It feels quite safe, and the beds are adequate if a little noisy at night. Bathrooms make the hall reek of man stink. Good if you're into it. Wasn't for me. Wouldn't stay here if you're not religious.

This was is really good hostel. Friendly staff, clean sheets and reasonably priced cafeteria. Good wifi.. Overall a peaceful experience. It is totally drug and alcohol free. So tourists need to take note of it. I would recommend it.
