Met Miriam during my check-in and she is very friendly ! Close to a tram station. The only downside is not enough power outlet and have to share among your dormmate Other than that, everything is good !

This hostel is quite something special. The staff are particularly amazing and care for their guests above and beyond their call. They care. They love. They are awesome.

The male dorms on the third floor could have been better ventilated - it smelt like people hadn't showed for days!

Besides the mistake of choosing an 18 bed dorm, facilities are great: the pillow supplied is huge and much better than any other hostel pillow I've laid my head on, and showers/washrooms are great also. The free breakfast is quite small/inadequate. Location is good, about a 20 min walk from Centraal Station and Amsterdam is very accessible regardless. Staff was helpful, I'd definitely stay again (in a smaller dorm!!) and would recommend.

Homemade meals! Free hot breakfast and cheap meals. The staff is all volunteers and they are really nice and willing to get to know you. People do hang out in the dining room and you can meet others. A Christian Hostel but not in your face about it. Really close to a tram stop but you can walk into the center easily. We really enjoyed our stay here.

The hostel is nice, very tidy and there's a good common room. But to be honest, it shouldn't be really called a hostel. There's a huge kitchen, but is commercial, so we connot even heat water. They charged me for hot water. I think it's quite harsh consider it's a hostel and it costs 21 euros a night for a 12 bed room.

Decent enough hostel for what you pay. We spend three nights in the 18 bed girls dorm. Beds are comfortable, the place is clean. You get a free breakfast (although we booked specifically because the website says they do a 'takeaway breakfast' if you leave early for tours etc - they don't). There is no common room as such, just a cafe. There is no room keys so lock everything up if you do stay. It's quiet enough mostly. Would recommend if on a short stay and you aren't a party animal.

A nice hostel away from the crazy city centre. Although still in walking distance. The staff were all very friendly. Only issues I have with the hostel was it lacked a kitchen and wasn't the most social. However it was nice and clean.

Hello Brothers and Sisters,Interesting place to live in, I would found the staff very helpful, friendly and caring. Shelter Jordan is close location to canal rides, dam square, nine streets and vondel park. I would recommend people who are going for 1 week trip in Amsterdam should definitely visit shelter Jordan. God bless Daniel

Hostel is located around 15-20 mins walk from the city centre. 5 mins walk to Anne Frank house and 1 min walk to tram/bus station. An average hostel for all the non-smoking non-drinking travelers. Since it is a Christian Hostel, quite a few restrictions are there as per the Amsterdam standards. They had a few activities of local food tasting and Jordaan area walking tour, which i found interesting. It was good to meet some of the volunteers working in the hostel and share their stories.

This is a christian Hostel, therefore no alcohol is allowed. The room smelled like dead rat and so we had to open the window.

The hospitality offered by the staff at the hostel was (is) amazing!!! I felt so much at home and at ease immediately. The location is easy to find, and really quite central for its price. (i mean walking to the center takes approximately 15 minutes, but the hostel is really really price-worthy! And Amsterdam is naturally expensive) The breakfast offered there is amazing as well--it's hot, it's special, and above all, it's free. I recommend this hostel to anyone who wants to visit Amsterdam!

Realy nice staff, very friendly. Also perfect location. I had a 'take away' breakfast since I had to leave early, this was very nice.

A quiet place with no problems with stoned roommates, wich is a problem in Amsterdam. It's a Christian hostel, so, people wich wants to stay there must be aware of this. Really good place to relax and be away of the crazyness of Amsterdam nightlife. Really good hand made breakfast!

This place had the most amazing hot breakfast FOR FREE! Nothing like getting pancakes or French toast in the morning to start your day right. However, the fact that there was no drugs or alcohol allowed in the hostel did give it a very different vibe than a normal hostel. Nothing bad, just not very...rowdy. The kind of place where you go for a break from all the partying rather than staying out until 3am.

We stayed for 4 nights at the Jordan hostel. The staff are very friendly, thoughtful and helpful and make a good atmosphere. The building is clean and tidy. The food in the cafe was superb and we chatted a lot there and made new friends making for pleasant and relaxing sociable evenings. Bike hire was the cheapest around with good bikes and the location is perfect for sightseeing. I look forward to next time. Mike Czech Republic

Shelter Jordan was the perfect place for me to explore Amsterdam as a solo traveler! The staff was incredibly kind and friendly, and the common room made it really easy to meet new people. Breakfasts are free and dinners are affordable. The shelter is 10-20 minutes from many major sites and it is in a lovely neighborhood that is well worth exploring. The front desk has great advice on things to do, and best prices on bike rentals, canal tours, etc. Everything I could have hoped for!
