Shirleys Beach Reviews

Stayed for 5 nights, it was at the end of the season so I think I was the only person staying there. The room is fairly basic but certainly very large with a nice balcony overlooking the palm strewn streets of Kovalam, the staff and owners are friendly ans helpful. About a 3-4 minute walk down the hill to the closest beach and a couple of minutes more to the main lighthouse beach with its cafes and restaurants. Be prepared for regular blackouts (throughout Kerala) but it's very picturesque.

Hostel NOT where stated and continues to be misrepresented on hostelworld website. Inconvenience, time and cost incurred of trying to locate hostel by phone, asking directions etc in excess of hostel's value for money. Hostel was spotless, however owner vague and non-commital in respect of help and information. Hostel is NOT near Coconut Grove Restaurant, as stated, but very close to Jasmine Palace hotel.

Lovely hostel just a short journey from the beach, Shirley is a lovely lady, very accommodating and helpful. Clean nice room, the bed was a tiny bit small but really dint make that much difference. HIGHLY recommended.
