The biggest problem I had was the confusion over if I had dinner included or not. I believed I'd paid for the room (I paid for 2 people to have the room to myself), dinner and breakfast. I was told upon arrival that my booking didn't cover dinner, which I thought was completely ridiculous and bizarre to have the first meal missing. I opted to pay nearly another 2000 for dinner, but it was frustrating. Everything else was pretty good, and the staff were helpful. It was a bit smelly though.

In dire need of refurbishing. The man who did the check out was very rude and generally unpleasant. The whole place reminded us of the Overlook hotel from the movie The Shining. That is NOT a good thing.

We loved this place. Affordable japanese-style ryokan at the gateway of Hakone national park. The owner was brilliant, shut the onsen to give us a private bath time, introduced us to the (totally) japanese restauranteur next door and adivsed on the best food - which was great. It's not what you'd call a happening place with activities and parties, but it's perfect for couples wanting a bit of time together.
