Read great reviews on the hostel hence booked, however, lack of communication sent 3 emails and only received 1 reply from someone called Berry. Not happy of the way that we was not clearly advised of the cost for Taxi. emailed 3 months prior to my stay about certain activities I wanted to do and was told it was available daily, however I stayed 2 nights and both nights the Tang Dynasty show was not available to be booked, but found out it was available on the 5.02.12. Disappointed!

Very well located, just on top of the wall. Very close to everything. Nice driver took me to terracota warriors. Nearby to the shuttle bus to airport. Great !

I enjoyed the hostel in general but disliked our room. Immediately upon entry, we smelled sewer gas. Staff brought incense and a wick, but that only disguised the problem. Also the inside of our bathroom door was very moldy, mildewy, rotted away from moisture. And there was no hot water the first day after 7:00 a.m. as the sign said.

I had a great time here. The rooms were clean and warm (we did have to ask for a warmer room in the winter, but we got upgraded at no additional cost), the hostel is in a great location, near the South Gate to the city wall and a short walk to the Drum Tower/Bell Tower/Muslim Quarter, and the hostel itself is in a really cool building with courtyards/lobby/restaurant--lots of places for meeting fellow travelers. The bathrooms are outside but the showers had hot water 24/7.

Not good during winter! Dorms are really cold (around 10 degrees) but bathrooms are even colder because there is no heating and you have to go outside. So the temperature was below zero! Im ill because of that. Staff and rooms OK. wifi was not working

I've stayed in quite a few hostels in Xian and this is by far the best one. They've got the most wonderful staff ever! Great location, loads of character, clean, quiet. The lounge and the restaurant are cozy and comfy with TV, board games and underfloor heating(Xian's freezing in winter). They taught everyone how to make dumplings and we all ate them for free. The bar on the basement's amazing though that's not really my thing. I live in China and this hostel's gonna be my base in Xian.

A traditional courtyard hostel located right next to the South Gate. Perfect location for town and exploring, very central. The staff were very helpful, especially with the free pick up from the train station and letting you check in early. Stephen (one of the receptionists) was very helpful and friendly and also good for a chat.. :) Thanks for all your help ! They have a bar underneath which gets quite busy and has live bands ect. Rooms could have been a bit warmer...

In general it was a great hostel, but in the restaurant the staff was a bit aggresive, always asking for money before they give you your order.

I loved this hostel. The staff were more like friends/fellow travellers. The atmosphere was great. Delicious food too! The rooms were nice and clean and warm. The downstairs bar has a GREAT atmosphere with heaps of locals, expats and travellers. The location, what can I say? It is literally in the shadow of the South Gate. I could easily take buses everywhere - Wild Goose Pagoda, Trainstation etc. Walk to the Muslim Quarter & antique streets. Richard/Darren's coffee is the best.

The location is excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. Showering here can be a little chilly this time of year.

I had Xi'an on my travel plans only because of Terracotta soldiers... But staying in this hostel made my stay to a very very nice one. Very friendly staff and good location with a nice bar. Had a great time.

It was really fine. The small restaurant of the hostel is really good. Just the bathroom was a bit smelly!
