'Party Place' sums it up. If you're not in China to party, I don't think this is the place. Very big, lots of people but mostly party crowd. Not that easy to meet people when you're alone. Bar/restaurant quite expensive. And strangely enough, they don't serve Chinese food. Lovely building, good beds, big lockers, lots of places to hang around, good location. Great place, but appeals to a certain crowd...

Beautiful hostel in an excellent location. The internet here is one of the fastest among the hostels I have visited in China.

Excellent accommodation, booked a 3-person private room and everything was perfect. When the air conditioning did not work they offered to switch us immediately to another identical room. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Staff were very helpful and spoke English well. Some of the tours that are booked through them, however were not amazing.

I wasn't as impressed at first because the staff was not as welcoming as they were in Beijing and breakfast didn't come with the room, but the hostel is ideally located, nicely decorated and has the most hopping bar in the city at night.

This is a truly great hostel! So cozy and beautifully decorated, situated in typical old chinese houses right inside the "old town" next to the city wall. Everything is very clean, rooms are nice & hot showers are a major plus!! The travelers cafe serves super delicious food (mainly western style). The staff (especially in the cafe) are very friendly and helpful with travel advice and bookings. 24-hour reception, free wifi, books, dvd´s a cool bar - everything one might need and even more.

Located in the very hearth of the city (just under the walls and close to the muslim quarter), the hostel has a very special atmosphere. Staff is really kind and friendly, and facilities are very good. One of the best hostel ever!

Very friendly, helpful and good English speaking staff. Absolutely beautiful (Chinese) atmosphere in the building. Very good restaurant. We had a room just above the exit of the bar. During the weekend, very loud till late. If you want to sleep well, ask for a quite room:-) From time to time we got very fed up with the smell from drain pipe in the bathroom.

Great hostel, especially considering we're talking about China here! Very comfy beds, and the free pickup in the morning is very nice after the horrific train journey that many backpackers will be taking. One suggestion, more sit down toilets!

Great hostel, great location but unfortunately the configuration of the courtyards makes it really noisy with the underground bar. There were people talking loudly in the courtyards until 3 in the morning.

The hostel is located in an old courtyard style property which has plenty of communal areas and had lots of character. The dorms were comfortable and clean. The staff were the biggest asset as they were genuinely friendly and knowledgeable. The dumpling making and snack nights were excellent way to meet other guests. There is also a lively bar located in the basement of the hostel. Email ahead to arrange free pick up from the train station.
