We booked a two bed room and got to an apartment 20m away from the hostel. We shared a kitchen and bathroom with two other apartments. There is no kitchen in the main hostel. We didn't know that before and where happy to be in that aparment. The rooms are very big with tv, DVD-player, air conditioner. It's located at the wall of Diocletia Palace, so it's quite central. The hostel belongs to the Silver Central Hostel. You can do your laundry there.

I had a fantastic stay at this hostel. Definitely one of the best I've stayed at in Europe! The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and extremely friendly. The rooms were spacious and the massive TV in the common area with a great range of DVDs. Free Wifi was a bonus as well!! Will be back again for sure!! : )

Amazing! I had a great time here. Great location next to the old town and close to everything including the bus stop and ferry port. Staff were so nice and knew everything about everything. Will defiantly stay here again on my way back and defiantly no sign of bed bugs. Thanks Erwin and Marian. See again soon.

DO NOT STAY HERE!! There are BED BUGS IN EVERY BED! Plus, we later found out that all staff were aware of this huge bug problem but were still happy to let people book in and sleep in the rooms - not acceptable! We spent the night on the wooden floor because no beds were free from infestation. Even the floor wasn't safe and we have had to wash all our clothes, packs etc just to be safe. The staff did give us a full refund but still, this is unacceptable and the place should be shut down.

Very good location and the staff are very friendly and helpful! Although a small hostel, it is very clean and has a good vibe.

This was my first experience staying in a hostel and I really enjoyed it. I'd love to travel this way again and hopefully stay at Silver Gate! The staff were very friendly, helpful, and accomodating. One of the staff noticed the commons area was looking a little boring so he brought out an entire case of recently released DVDs. a movie party followed. Thanks for a great stay!

Hostel is in a convenient location right next to the old town and a short walk from the train/bus station. Supermarket and all amenities near by. Air-conditioning in the room was a god send! No kitchen which was a bit of a let down.

Our beds were infested with bed bugs. Stayed up all night squashing bugs. Then had two hours sleep on the couch in the common room. The staff was very good and polite, they gave us a refund for our stay and made action for the room to be fumigated. But we´ve been stuck with the cost and hassle of having all our luggage washed, hundreds of kuna on medication and ointment, and the photos of the next week or so being ruined by us having bites on our body... head to toe.

It's ok for one night, but I wouldn't recommend for a long stay. The shower's pretty dirty and if you book the 'apartment' its separate to the actual hostel. Way too many stairs and no elevator. Boo. Close to the port if your doing Sail Croatia.

Silver Gate was ok, but not great. It is a small hostel and lacks of character. On the other side, the location is very good and the rooms clean and big enough. The staff gave us a great advice for a restaurant, that was a highlight.

We had a beautiful private apartment - air con, spacious room, comfy bed, and the building had a big bathroom, kitchen and its own computer so it was perfect. Staff were extremely helpful and recommended some great bars and restaurants too. Great location, easy walk from the bus station/ferry port and right near the palace square and promenade. One of my favourite hostels by far! You can sleep comfortably here and enjoy all Split has to offer.

Great location right next to the old city. Supermarkets, bakeries & fresh food market 30 secs away. Bus & train stations & port 5 min walk away. Staff were extremely helpful with things to do & places to eat & very friendly. Air con was brilliant. Only 1 female shower but never had to wait. Fridge available for food/drinks but no real kitchen, but had a few plates, cutlery & cups to use. Would stay here again.
