This hostel is tidy, nice and gets you everything you expect from it. The breakfast was very nice and you can get as much as you want. Free Wifi is also a very good thing. I liked it that they made no one who travelled alone staying with a group in one room so I didnt get isolated. I had a good time there!

I have been to many hostels, but Silverfern Backpackers is more than a hostel. It will always remain to be my number one when I come to Auckland.

Overall ok but won't recommend there are better with the same prices in Auckland. Only 1 50 MB wifi for your whole stay, no matter, you stay 1 day or one month, so the WIFI is not free, as claimed.

1. $50 deposit is too much. $20 will be more reasonable. 2. If kitchen can be closed on 10 pm, not 9pm, it will be better.

Not central, but within walking distance of city centre. 50Mb internet upon arrival is nice, even though it's not the same as free internet in my opinion. Decent kitchen. One of the staff seemed to mostly play on the wii, the other one at least tried to make the stay positive. Overall the feeling I got wasn't the best, but the hostel is actually good, worth the money they charge.

Breakfast very basic, also was charged a higher price for the room than advertised on website when I booked and there is no mention about the $50 key deposit when booking which is a bit expensive. I would recommend staying elsewhre.

Backpacker factory, it would be a good deal for 10-15 dollar less, it is a bit expensive for the facilities there are and the character (Only one bed and 2 chairs: no armchair, nothing). May be more clean in collective areas like bathroom

A decent hostel in a good location in Auckland. Overall we found it to be good value for money for the city. Breakfast is a bit of a rush, and finishes at 9am on the dot. Kitchen closes at 9pm sharp as well which is a bit early. Generally pretty clean considering the size. Wifi first 100mb is free then you need to pay. No lockers in the room though which is a shame considering the size of the hostels and number of people in the dorms.

The hostel is good located close to the city and the InterCity busstation. This is the only positiv part. The stuff was always unfriendly and grumpy and not helpfull at all. The advertised free internet was only one limited voucher. The breakfast was always empty before 9 am and they never refilled it. The kitchen is too small for all the hosted people. This hostel was full of german young people - that was annoying too.

i have never met so unfriendly staff. there's suppose to be "free wifi" but you actually get a 50mb free internet voucher which expires after a short time. when i asked for another voucher i was supposed to pay 5$ for 50mb, which is simply ridiculous. two times people came into my room, they had a booking- but no free beds, so they had to move into another room. it's just not well organised at all.A 50 dollar key deposit is a huge amount of money for backpacker who are living on a small budget

Hey, I was priddy happy with the hostel. The thing that really annoyed me was booking via your homepage. I clicked arriving 2 am because of a nightflight and because I didnt get any answer I thought thats gonna be al right. So when I arrived I stand in front of closed doors and had to stay in the streets of Auckland in such a stormy night. They also charged me that first night and canceled my whole stay because of "not arriving". How unfair is that? I did arrive, but just at the time i said.

Short walk into the heart of Auckland, nearest to the Skytower. Dunno about the $50 key deposit though

Locstion and facilities were very good, but it lacked atmosphere, personality and character...In comparison to other hostels we have stayed in NZ..

WIFI internet is not unlimited. A voucher is given to you on admission and then you have to pay. The connection is not that good therefore you lose lots of money to connect.
