Really enjoyed my stay! Friendly staff, clean and cozy hostel with everything you need. I did the tongariro crossing, and ski haus was the perfect base. They have a shuttle which can take you there at 7am. I loved that this hostel was less busy than the others seemed to be, it has a personable and cozy atmosphere. The fireplace is also a big bonus!

Helpful staff, rooms shook when doors along the hallway closed and could hear through the walls which woke us up at night. Kitchen was good, heater in the room was an absolute blessing!

You can hear every movement through the doors, but it was quiet when we stayed there, so it didn't really disturb us. Still a nice place, though. Chill atmosphere and friendly stuff.

Nice lady on check in helped book transport for the crossing and lots of info.

Overall enjoyed my stay here! The intercity bus stops literally right outside, across the road, from the hostel which is perfect. The showers have great pressure and stay hot for at least 15 mins. No lockers in the rooms which was a bummer but luckily I had great roomies. The lovely lady who checked me in/out was SO kind!! And she was great with helping me find something to do when the Alpine Crossing was closed due to high winds. The kitchen is big and so is the lounge too!

love t o stay in there, Vivian is so nice

The only hostel I've been to where there wasn't a supply of coffee/tea/condiments/spices. It was also advetised elsewhere that it had a pool. Bit of a shock to find It didn't.

Lovely little lodge style accommodation. Quiet and spacious. Rooms have comfortable beds. log fire in main room. Wifi available but not free. Perfect for a trip to tongariro. A little walk to only village shop compared to other hostels.

- Staff is not very sympatic. Boiler broken and cold water in the shower for 2 days (but no refund or "gift"...). Dead insects and a mouse in the kitchen, not very hygienic. The only shuttle to go to the "civilization" or to the tongariro alpine crossing costs 30$ (return)... It's too much expensive to make 30 km !!! Especially when you are standing ! There is only one washing machine and the staff uses it all morning so you have to be lucky to use it Too expensive for what it is.
