If this was the only place available in London - I would check the weather first and maybe brave the streets. The staff were unhelpful, the room was filthy, the stairs are wonky and everything smells like mould. Walking up the stairs made me feel like i was in a funhouse. If i wanted to be in a funhouse, i would have looked for one. The twin room also had hospital style bunk beds propped up by pieces of wood to compensate for the sinking floor - not comfortable. Try YHA Oxford instead.

Nice hostel, excellent location. Its (only) big problem is the common room : please, add chairs and power strips in this room ! Many of us couldn't work on our laptops or even eat at a table before 11pm or midnight...

It was the first time I stayed in a hostel and had a great time. Staff are attentive, the place is safe and has a great location. For sure when I'll return to London this hostel.

The worst thing about the hostel is that showers and toilet areas aren't confortable at all! There's no privacy, not even a little bit! It was terribly cold as well in there, that's been unbearable. The rest was quiet good, but I wouldn't spend another holiday in Smart Russell Square.

If it was a choice between another night in this hostel and a night in jail, I'd struggle.

I did many hostels and this one was sadly the worst i've ever been to. The location is great as you are in the city center, but it's noisy, not so sure about the security, no lift (when you are at the 4th floor with lots of luggages that's not the best, someone nice helped me, but not the staff). I seriously don't recommand this hostel. I went there because i was last minute a weekend and there was nothing else affortable available in the city center.

I knew that the showers weren't in the rooms but they put me and my friend in a private room in the third floor and the showers were in the basement. That was ridiculous!

The bathrooms are very far if your room is on the third floor, and it is complicated to find them. Moreover it is more complicated to find your room when you leave the bathroom. it is a shame to pay for the lockers situated under the beds (4£ per day), because if you don't, you won't have any furniture to put away your clothes, so you must let them inside your luggage. The hostel is well located, 10min by foot of Totenham court road, and 2min by foot of russel square's station (picadilly line)

Avoid at any cost! The most dreadful place I've ever been too. The room was so horrible and dirty that I didn't even stay the night and rather went to a hotel across the road. My room was a tiny box on the 3rd floor and told me they only have bathrooms in the basement! In the room there was no table or chair just a rather small and dirty looking bed. The staff was very unpleasent and unprofesssional, they do need costumer service training if they want to keep their jobs!

Excellent accomodation!!!I tried lots of hostels in my life and I have to say that this is probably the most clean, well organized and friendly one I've ever been to. Rooms are very well maintained, the entire structure is celan and the staff know what theyr' doing + you don't have random people getting in since there's a security guard at the entrance...Only problem:it's quite busy during the week since there are many students coming over...Highly recommended!!!

It's a human factory, good to meet people but the staff really don't care about the clients, they take our deposit for few minutes late at the check out, like the guys before and after us in the queue, this hostel is run by thieves. But if you don't care about that, nor about the atmosphere, it's a good place to meet a lot of friendly customers, and the location in London is good. (One more thing, If you smoke cigarets , they will send you across the street on a dark parking, no smokers around!)
