There was only one bathroom on the basement which made it very inconvenience to take a shower. The guy at the reception is impolite but he thought himself to be humor. The guard make me feel safe because he asked me to show the key card to enter the hostel after 9pm.

I wasn't really happy sharing a room with three guys and the beds were way to short for my length.

The showers are in the bsement, they are very hot. My skin was very red afterwords. Breakfast is by far the worst I ever had in a Hostel, just conflakes and toast with jam.

I wouldn't say the staff were rude but they weren't friendly at all, and didn't seem very open to offering help. I stayed in a 10 bed dorm which was totally tiny and not very clean, but it was very cheap. Was expecting it to be a cheap, simple place to stay for one night, but it was impossible to get a good night's sleep. Worth shelling out a bit more to get a room that isn't a dive, I regret going to this hostel and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Receptionist is very rude. Pathetic service with arrogant attitude. Otherwise, my experience would be great.

This hostel was pretty average. The rooms/bathrooms are clean enough. The showers are locker room style (with divisions) in the basement. This is a good place if you're looking for a hostel just to sleep at. Other than that, I didn't feel that it had much to offer. Overall decent value for the amount you pay.

Thought people in the hostel were more friendly, or just polite. Nobody talked to each other.

It is great to be so near the tube station... the beds are good although the rooms are simple and have no luxury... the showers a bit far away down the cellar but clean and tidy. it is good for students.

The communication was terrible. The filthy rude guy who checked me in barely said anything, and when he did he was barely audible and possible to understand, his directions to an atm were almost non existant.and did not properly explain why he was taking a 10 pound deposit off me and how to get it back. They then refused to give it back the next morning because I checked out 98 minutes late. He started asking me questions, after he refused to explain the basics. And this was at 2AM DISGUSTING.

Well were do i start! The staff at the hostel are SO RUDE! They do not help you at all. Just the bear minimum! You have to give a Deposit here and there ie: £10 for your door key and £10 for a shower locker that you have a time limit on of 1hr. They charge you £5 for a Towel that is way to small. And by the way the rooms are way too HOT you cant sleep. The place was not Clean as well!. I stayed the on the 10th of Dec 2011 and will never ever stay there again! And i will tell all of my friends.

The location is excellent. Hostel is basic and the showers are possibly the worst ive ever come across. Firstly they are a million miles away in the basement, secondly you have to constantly hold the button to keep the water coming out and its BOILING!!! The curtains on each bed are good for privacy. There we five of us staying in a 6bed dorm which was fine though i'd hate to think how squished the bigger rooms would be! Fine just for one nights stay but wouldnt want to stay any longer!!

good location. it is an ordinally hostel with basic breakfast included. good cleanliness HOWEVER i recommend your own sleepingbag. you will get just two big sheets and one small paper sheet to put on the top of the pillow. the rest of the bed linen was already on and used.

The 24 bed dorm was terrible to sleep in, the walls are paper thin, and it's so noisy from people upstairs, and outside. The beds itself are small, with no individual lamps. Staff was unsure about london, and unhelpful too.

I had a really good experience in Smart Russell Square. It is in a great location close to the underground and everything else and very safe. The bed was comfortable and the room was nice and warm. I was on the top floor and had to go down to the basement for plenty of showers but there were toilets on every floor. Broken hairdryers were my only problem. Breakfast was good - cornflakes, toast and coffee - juice would have been appreciated and the jam etc. should have been at the end of the queu

Exactly what you expect for a cheap hostel in London. Nothing out of the ordinary, one way or the other. 10 quid deposit when you walk in seems a bit much, but other than that.
