21/Female/Australia The showers were so difficult no water actually landed on my body it went all around me and turned off in 5 seconds. The toilet always smelt so bad which wasn't the toilet itself but was the toilet paper dispensers. Lockers should be free as there is no extra room to put your stuff at all. Great location though

The hostel is well located, clean and it has a good price, but they charge for lockers and to keep your baggage after you do your check out, and this is not acceptable. I'll never go back there again because of this, unless they change it.

It would be better if the doors between the stairs and hall close automatically . The doors were frequently open, therefore more noise in the hall. The showers in the bassement were a long way from the rooms.

I found this property with very less comfort. Staffs were rude with no welcoming attitude. I was told to pay £20 in advance as a security and charged me for service to receive money from card. Disgusting. Too many residents with no place to sit. Beds were small and room were not cleaned. I had two beds on third floor and had to come to basement to have shower. I made a mistake to book this hostel. I am disappointed with my experiences at this place. I won’t recommend anyone with family to stay.

Nice hostel if you wish center location. Not a cool place but you can meet lot of people in its great lounge.

Nice centrally located hostel. The staff was very helpful, rooms were clean and the kitchen is really a fine place where you can rest a bit and watch TV. Disadvantages: you have to pay for locker (more then pound a day) what is ridiculous, the water policy and showers in the basement and lack of electric sockets in the room.

the hostel location is great and the beds are what you would expect from a hostel. quite comfortable. however the shower water was quite cold. i checked few others showers on the 3 days i was there and all of them had rather cold water.

showers tepid at best and needed to be re-activated every 20 seconds or so computer internet was not able to be upgraded apparently to more updated verions of pdf viewer or flash player, so looking up train/airport schedules or show listings was problematic only one plug for phones/devices per 8 bunk room

Worst nights sleep ever! Not worth paying because I didn't sleep a wink! People running up

The only downside was the non-responsiveness of most of the other hostel users. I am comparing it with YHA which I use from time to time, where there is an evident readiness to greet and converse. Young foreign travellers seem not to expect an old fellow like me to notice them. (I do smile a lot!)

Smart Russell Square is a friendly hostel, i had a great stay there - a few down sides to it - the showers being downstairs and one plug socket in the room, however there are sinks in the rooms and a simple plug extension lead next time.

Good location, but very old building, no so nice place and not good facilities! Maybe it is very clean, but the atmosphere makes it feel like dirty and uncomfortable!

The staff was not very friendly nor very helpful. The room, that was in the basement, was way too hot. The atmosphere was not. Nice the breakfast was not. Any good either. But admittedly is was very cheap.
