The labirynth path to showers is a navigation nightmare. Some toilet cabin doors dont close well - effects on ones privacy. Very annoying. (floor 2, 3) I wish there was more to breakfast: at least some extra fruit, if not also some real bread, juice, various flakes... Compared to city-hostels in Germany, Denmark and Switzerland this hostel needs "pimping up". I liked the staff: The cleaning ladies (they striked me as people very commited to job well done), the reception and security guys. :)

cheap. EXCELLENT location. curtains for all the bunks, so you get privacy. free breakfast. safe, you need a keycard to enter. staff is not very friendly or helpful but what can you expect for 10 pounds a night? have stayed here twice, would stay here again.

Had a great time there! It's located centrally with tube station, supermarket and pubs right around the corner! Perfect location for this price! You are at the some of the main attractions within minutes! Breakfast is okay, staff was very friendly! The only negative points are the showers in the basement. You need to walk a while until you get there and they aren't the cleanest, so don't forget to bring your slippers! But acceptable for this price. And we had problems closing the door properly!

The hostel is very good located, in the central part of London (zone 1), near of almost all turistic atractions from the city. Nevertheless, the room with 24 people is too much tight, crowded, and messed due to the luggages all over the floor, but for those who just don't care about comfort, it's ok. The room for 4 people is very nice. Showers are clean enough, breakfast good too. Good price/value.

I mean, It's located in the heart of London with a cheap price so you can't expect much, but It's still a horrible hostel. The service staff seemed kinda retarded and most didnt even know english. The showers were filthy and the entire hostel was covered in a blue bathroom rug. Stay here only if you really have to!

Water in the showers was below room temperature in the middle of winter every single day, even when no one else was in the shower, and facilities were much dirtier than the pictures advertised represent; many plug points did not work, and no electrical outlets anywhere near mirrors; no free bag storage

Smart Russell Square was not a terrible Hostel by any means. It was just the worst of all the hostels I stayed in for the trip I took through 8 major cities. The staff were not as helpful as expected and the room was constantly hot , a killer for me. I know for sure there are better hostels for your money in London.

Beds are very short, I couldn't relax and sleep well. Corridors were very noisy during night. Breakfast could be at least till 10.30 on saturday and sunday. Showers were too hot. Some staff(especially men) should be more polite and professional.

They are organized and the Hostel works well, BUT one thing I definetely have to complain is about the cleanliness of the blankets that, in my opinion, are not washed at all. Bedlinen is clean, but not the blankets that remains in the beds for weeks just changing of person to person.

+ great location: in the center of london, 5min walk to underground station, bank, supermarket and pub + possibility to rent (1 or 2£ aday) a locker in one's room, access to rooms only with personal key card ~ internet was capricious but i could always make it work, just had to wait a little - windows couldnt be opened more than a few centimeters therefore it became quickly stuffy in the room - breakfast consisted of the absolut mimum: toast, butter, strawberry jam, cornflakes, milk and coffee

Hostel was dirty, very small beds. Room was in the basement, i felt like in a prison. The only reason to go is because it is situated near the center

Although the showers were in the basement and were operated by push buttons and every item you did not have (besides sheets and breakfast (which was lacking)) you had to pay for. It was definitely close to the Picadilly tube line which made travel very easy, and it was by far the best thing available for New Year's, so I really appreciated having a bed.

The hostel is very clean and nice but I think you should invest in decoration or something to feel more comfortable and with more personality.

I'd have to say this is a very average hostel overall. The beds were comfortable, the staff was very friendly, and it was incredibly clean. I met some amazing people there and had a great time. At the same time however, there was only one shower in the basement, and there were security issues. One friend I made there said his roommate had his laptop stolen and on the last night I was there, there was a significant increase in security that the staff wouldn't explain. Very cheap as well tho.

You can make friends. The kitchen is the best! Staff is very helpfull , I recommend smart russell square!! You only have to take care of your things becouse 2 laptops were stolen. And do not change your many there, is better in a exchange place, you can found them all the time.

It is fine. Fair enough. The Character of the staff not kind. The showers were far away from the room (not the toilet). The room had little space to put the suitcase. The breakfast just a toast with jam. Crowded. What is good : the curtains for privacy in each bed, it was clean, it was organized everyone had they own key witch locks in the room, in the corridor, the location perfect specially for going to the British museum. It is for young people
