Staff were pleasant and helpful but in all other ways this is simply a functional place to crash if all the more attractive options are booked. One toilet/shower is not enough for a shared room of fifteen people. Thirty pounds is likewise far too much for a bed for the night. Booking online, I had to stay for two nights, but this rule did not seem to apply at all to the many people who showed up at reception directly.
Stayed in a four bed dorm. Decent, average hostel. On front road side, so a little noisy from auto traffic., no curtain. Wi-fi worked in dorm room -- good. Shower on 2nd floor hall was clean, big stalls, hot water, large flow -- nice. Front desk staff was friendly and polite to me. Breakfast was just okay - white bread, bucket of jam, tub o butter-like stuff, tea, orange-flavored sugar water. Key cards worked. Cleaning staff busy in am. Long walk to Brighton, but bus service is very good.
No frills budget hostel with more group/working crowd than party people. Very friendly and helpful staff with can do attitude make it stand out, would recommend to professionals, adults and groups. Good wifi too. Note that beds in large dorms are tough on anyone 183cm/6ft and over though.
Its expensive considering the distance from Brighton and the run down state of the dorms. Maybe time to upgrade the dorm beds and bathroom?
Bunk beds are good banter for stags/ hens. 5min cab into town. Shared shower are decent. Would stay there again. Parking outside nightmare though if no spaces
