The hostel surprised me to be honest. For what we paid I thought we were going to get a flea pit but the rooms where clean as was the en suite bathroom. The staff were friendly and check in for a large group took minutes. I would go back if I were planning another trip to brighton

The staff was nice and the hostel is far from Brighton downtown, but it's fine. What I was a bit disappointing about was : - the shared toilets and shower. I could see the staff is making its best to keep it clean, but it's more the fact that both equipments are quite in a bad shape and someway unwelcoming - the atmosphere of the room with the tables and the TV, it's like a permanent end of party in a nightclub, not really warm - the short time allowed to the breakfast : 30 min !

loud, Dingy, smells of sweat, kitchen has poor cooking facilities - broken oven and fridges, lack of cooking utensils. The owner has obviously spent little money here. In need of a refurb

By far the best of the three hostels I stayed at in Britan. It would have been nice to have an attached restaurant, but there's plenty around.

Very unclean, smelt disgusting, grey and dark, like prison. Dirty mattresses seen from bottom bunk... £40 for 1 night bunk in shared room... Ridiculous!

The level of cleaningness is decent but not good. The staff is just not bother with anything. On the first night I had to request to put the heating on because they could not be asked. The Wi-Fi is there but it is impossible to connect. The amount of noise at night it was incredible, to the point of buying ear plugs. The room next door made a mess including a broken window and nobody seem to be bother about it.

leave the cookers on for longer in the evening so those that work and only return a bit later can still make something to eat other than microwave food. This would be the biggest plus this hostel could do.

I lived in a single room, which felt extremely dirty and cheep. Ripped sheets on the bed, too small a duvet, something like sand on the bed, extremely cheep furniture made out of wood you could only find thrown in garbage. Plus, you had to pay extra to get towels, which I believe is unacceptable and the heat radiator was not radiating any heat of course. I payed 30 pounds to stay for a night but the value of the room was maybe 1 pound. I would not recommend this to anyone. Run for your life!

Hostel seems to full of permanent residents and the atmosphere is pretty terrible because of this. The kitchen is pretty dirty, as was the laundry. Staff are not super keen to help you out and can disappear for a while and ignore you even when you are standing at reception. You have to pay for lockers and although the rooms have a number code, anyone who knows this code can go in and out as they please. Wifi was a major disappointment with us missing out of tickets!! Stay elsewhere.

The room was not clean at all, it had food under the beds. Bed linens didn´t smell very well. The second day we found our room door open when we arrived, luckily our stuff was still there. We decided to have breakfast there, but they didn't give us the food that we were supposed to get for the breakfast (missing hot drink, and chocolat cream)

From when I made first visit in early January 2012 till my lastest visit in late March 2013. Sobo has detoriated more each time I have visited it. The bed mattress are not very comfortable and the bunks are becoming unstable. The bathroom and toilet need a very big makeover. The atmosphere is not as vibrant and the price is higher for lesser standards.

Close to public transport & friendly staff. However, seemed to be mostly long-term, older residents, which didn’t create great atmosphere. We were right next to the wooden stairs, so heard everyone coming and going ALL NIGHT. Main problem was that there were 5 people in our 4-bed dorm – if booked this way, it’s unacceptable. If not, don’t know how staff hadn’t noticed due to huge amount of guy+girl belongings as only 1 bed occupied on check-in. Only stayed 1 night so felt too weird to complain.

It is very basic accommodation but clean and comfortable. The staff are pleasant and helpful. Not disabled friendly from what I could see, steps down to the main door, and the women only dorm up four flights of stairs. But for those who want a cheap bed for a few nights, and a very basic breakfast at little extra cost, I would not hesitate to recommend it. I have stayed in hostels all over Europe and many of them were not nearly as clean and pleasant to stay in as this one.

I would love to write something positive, but thats very hard to do, because these are the facts: when we arrived we only get a code which opens the door to our room, that made me feel quite insecure, in the hallway and in our room it stinked I couldnt breave, the bedclothes were dirty and old, the heater didn't work, the windows couldn't be closed, the kitchen was dirty, 90% of the people who stayed there where men in their 50s who seemed to be homeless people...worst hostel I ever stayed in!
