it's a little tricky to get there, the place we stayed was actually an old lady's house, and although she was a very good person, she was not very prepared to recieve guests. but the rooms themselfs are very good and cozy a little bit like staying at your grandmother's house

Lovely room with a great balcony view overlooking the sea! Great for a picturesque sunset view. There's place to hang your clothes and chairs to enjoy the view. Shared bathroom was very clean and tidy. Room had no AC for certain period but since it is at the top of the hill it was relatively cool at night. Walk up was pretty treacherous with steep steps. The owner also offered a shuttle to airport at 50-60 kunas per person.

The staff was very friendly. You have a nice view from the house, but you have also to pass a lots of stairs for arrival.

It's not a hotel, you rent one bedroom of a private house. The room has airconditioning and the toilet is quite new. The house is located next to the main road to the airport. The city center is 10 minutes walking by the stairs. You can park your car in a side of the road attached to the hill itself. A good option if you don't mind going up and down the stairs to get to the city and the house. To rent a room in Dubrovnik is not cheap, so there are not many more options.

This hostel was very clean and well kept and the staff was excellent. She greeted us upon arriving with a homemade donut and water! Although the location was a bit of a walk to Old Town, I would recommend this hostel to anyone staying in Dubrovnik.

It's a guesthouse, not a hostel, so as long as you go into knowing that, it's a good place to stay. Other reviews have complained about a long walk up stairs: this is true...but you won't find a place in Dubrovnik that you don't have to climb these stairs to. If it's a problem, this place has a bus stop (number 3) directly outside. Great view of the ocean, and everything was spotless!

Really enjoyed our stay only trouble was the couple of hundred stairs to get to it! very clean and the woman who owned it was very friendly and greeted us with juice and biscuits. Easier to get dropped off at the top of the stairs and you can see the hostel from there.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Sobe Mara for a week, our stay was a lovely experience the family who run the guesthouse were really helpful. We had good cooking facilities and fresh linen and towels throughout our stay. I would warn that there are quite a few stairs between the old town and Sobe Mara, but that was not to much of a problem. There was a supermarket about 10/15 min walk away and outside seating at the house which was available to use whenever we wanted. Overall was a brilliant stay.

My wife and I took the Private Double room with en-suite which was comfortable and clean. Because this was a private room with bathroom I was expecting it to be more hotel-like with privacy. The shared bathroom for the rest of the place vented right through ours which meant there was no sound privacy at all and you can hear EVERYTHING that happened in this other bathroom at all hours. Also there was barely WiFi reception anywhere in the building. It was close to town but up 434(ish) steps!

Took me a long time to find the place as it had poor signage. When I arrived they seemed like they weren't expecting me. The hostel is located at the top of the hill so if you have big bags I would recommend getting the bus up initially. Apart from that, very clean and comfortable.

The place is an apartment, but the owner is very frendly and have a nice view. But it's a bit dificult to find and there are many stairs to arrive there.

If arriving at the bus station do not attempt to walk here in the summer. The lady who runs the hostel does not speak any English, so communication is tough. Kitchen is limited with a single hob and a BBQ. There is no oven available. Air conditioning cost extra, which in the summer is necessary if you wish to sleep.

Overall wasn't too bad. Location was a bit of a pain having to climb down and up about 300 odd flights of stairs to get to old town. Staff were good however I did have a few items of clothing that I had to throw out cos they were ruined from a wash that I had done. Having to pay for air conditioning per night is a bit of a joke, especially at the price of 7€ each day! It should be included in the price that is quoted per night. Overall it was a good stay but you can find way better.

If there was problem with clothes we should know that before you left. We have new washing machines and i am not sure that could happened there. Air condition is not included in the price in this period of year and that explanation is on hostelworld web page for "sobe Mara" . best regards

What an excellent stay! The place was clean and comfortable. We even had a terrace to sit on overlooking the city. Be prepared to do a lot of walking down stairs in order to get to old town. The family is wonderful and offered us a beverage upon arrival.

She was very kind, but it was difficult to find the place and to comunicate with her because she knew little english.

This place was amazing! We were here for three nights and although it was a 15 minute walk to the old town it was extremely clean and comfy. The owner helped us whenever we asked and was very pleasant to deal with. Saying here we got way more than our money's worth.

We were greeted by the family and offered a cold beer, a map and an explanation on how to get to the old town. Great place to stay if you don't mind a bit of a walk (10 to 15 minutes). You probably won't find better value in Dubrovnik.

A lovely room in a lovely house overlooking the sea from the hillside above the old town. Collection from the airport was very smooth and our host was very welcoming. It would be really hard to find better value for money! The house is a moderately-challenging but interesting ten minute walk form the old town - a few hundred steps up through alleys - but you do get some nice views!

A fair hike from the old town - you can walk down easily, it takes maybe 10 minutes, but going back up is tough and the bus is a bit of a rip-off. Lovely lady who spoke minimal English but will help you with anything, even wash up your dishes! Not really a hostel so you're not really going to meet people but it was great for our group of three. Kitchen, wifi and laundry give it that extra edge for the price.
