We enjoyed our stay at sopha house. It was right on the river and the location is great! Just down the road from the Main Street and night market.
Fantastic location on the river with beautiful scenery and the best restaurants in Luang Prabang, there are posh, more expensive hotels neighbouring this one so its really good value for money. Staff were great, we hired bikes free of charge and our laundry was done within a few hours and smelled great. Bathroom could have been cleaner some parts were a bit mouldy. A bit awkward to get to so we just told the tuktuk driver to go to the nearest temple and we asked a local where to go from there.
nice place to stay and close to night market but a bit far away from the center. nice view as its right across from the river. fyi, tell the tuktuk driver the full address and give him the cross street.
We booked one night but ended up staying there for four. The rooms upstairs with AC are really beautiful, the rooms without AC are ok as well but not as big and really basic.
Tuk-tuks from bus station couldn't find the place, and the hostel's directions, though accurate, were no help. We had to hoof around the area to find it. They asked for $3 extra for a/c, but relented when we refused to pay more than our reserved price. Owner was really brusque and grumpy. Room was okay - very nice location. Beware of electrical switches inside shower area! After 1 night, we spent $9 more and moved to a gorgeous room at Saynamkhan hotel - 2 doors down and came w/ crepe breakfast.
