We had a great time. Nice, helpful staff. The room was spacious, affordable, and clened daily. Very close to kata beach.

The hotel owner Terje went out his way several times with his bike and car to help us around when taxi was lost or unavailable. He also got us very good deals on tours such as phi phi islands and his young son even gave us his toy that my gf had gotten excited about seeing as she had it as a young girl - nostalgia. Its a friendly place and i will be back to try the excellent menu!

Great stay here! I got ill one day and so the owner rescheduled our trip to Kho Phi Phi by one day and sorted it out so that we didn't get charged anything extra at all, he was very helpful and and all the staff are so friendly. We came back a few days later, before heading up to Bangkok, received a warm welcome and the food in the restaurant is fantastic. If you are coming to Kata Beach, stay here!

Close to a construction site so it was a bit noisy in the morning but the manager offered us another room in the other side of the building.

Convenient to beach, about a 5 minute walk. Breakfast included, free WiFi. Clean, large rooms.

The staff is amazing and friendly. They played pool with me a few times to help pass the time. That was nice of them. The location is great. It is near loads of restaurants and bars, and an easy 5-10 minute walk to Kata beach

Overall a good quality hostel. The rooms are nice and clean. Great location only a short walk to the beach. Dislikes; internet is so slow its archaic. No atmosphere whatsoever. Single travellers would do better elsewhere. Good for couples or groups I would say

Southern Fried Rice is the best hostel that I've ever stayed at. It's more like a hotel with daily cleanings, towel exchanges and two bottles of water provided a day. The owner, Terje, is very helpful and can get the best deals on everything from taxis to tours. The free breakfast is nice, and for an extra $1, basically, you can get a nice continental breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Wifi was great, but the desktop computers need to be updated.

It was a great location, just off all the shopping, restaurants, and bars. Plus it was 5 minutes walking to the beach! The owner was very great in talking to us and helping us book tours. The rooms were clean, updated, and well-maintained. There was also free wifi. GREAT place to stay!

Near the beach, but took a little while to find the place. Off the main road but runs parallel to it. The breakfast was great...real bacon is such a luxury coming from South Korea. Free WiFi, secure, air conditioning worked, water pressure was okay, free Q-tips, towels. Small safe. All rooms on the higher floors. Lots of space, clean, quiet, and the owner and workers were very hospitable and answered all my questions. On the bus route and try the local food carts - papaya salad is amazing!

The location was good for me, but that depends on what you are looking for. It´s really close to the Kata beach, which is a nice place to chill out. All the action is in Patong beach, which is about 15-20 min away by tuk-tuk or taxi and it will cost about 400 baht (13 US$) one way. But I think Patong is fun to go to at night but to messy to stay at, so staying in Kata might be better. Other than that, the staff was OK, the room was clean, air-con worked fine and the breakfast was really basic...

Restaurant food was delicious. Stay was very pleasant and enjoyable.

I really enjoyed my stay at Southern Fried Rice. The staff was very kind and went out of their way to make feel welcome and point me in the right direction. It's in a nice row of shops and guesthouses and a 5-10 min walk to the beach. I enjoyed the food at the restaurant, and my room was great.

Great location, helpful staff and cheap standard breakfast! Quiet and better than the rest this close to katta karon beach.
