Our only complaint was that people were making a lot of noise downstairs on the deck of the diner, long after the diner itself closed. They did quiet down when asked. Otherwise, everything was great!

Thanks for the great review. Sorry about the people on the patio. I'm glad they quieted down when asked. In the future you can always call me to take care of it as well. As you know it's been pretty hot in Whistler this summer, so a lot of people are staying outside as long as possible. Again glad you had a good time at the Southside Lodge and my apologize about the noise from the patio downstairs

The rooms seem to be small appartements before. There is no big common room available. Only a small couch for two people in each appartement. If the couch is in use, you can anly sit down and relax on your own bed. Public transport to and from town is organised well - you can get there any time you want. It was much cheaper than the HI so it was ok.

Thanks for your comments and review I think your correct, back in the day it was offices and/or a motel Because our location is so good (Middle of Whistler Creek-300m from Creekside Gondola) space is at a premium and we don't have a big common room The kitchen often becomes the de facto common room Thanks for staying with us and I hope to see you in the future Regards Maxwell

good located with a supermarket across the street. the hostel was unpersonal in my opinion, I hadn't got contact with other travelers nor with the staff

I'm sorry you found our place unpersonal, Aaron (General Manager) and myself are in and out of the Southside Lodge all day. If you ever need assistance there is a "hot line" phone in the kitchen that we can be contacted 24/7 Aaron and myself will try and improve the atmosphere at the Southside Lodge more friendly Thanks for your comments and review, it will help us improve Regards; Maxwell

Had a great stay! Was pleasantly surprised to have our own couch and TV with Cable in our room. Also nice to have ensuit bathroom. Unlike other hostels where for the same price you wouldn't get this. Very convenient, close to the gondola, market, liquor store and other food venues. The owner gave us a great deal on lift tickets so would definitely stay here again! Great small friendly hostel!!!

It's an old and boring looking hostel but there are almost everything i need around. for the price I don't expect more. It's close to Creekside gondola. however need a bus to the Whistler Village (Bus runs until quite late anyway.) I met lots of friendly people there and would recommend if money is the primary concern.

Hey Konno-san Thanks for the nice review. A partner and myself recently bought the Southside Lodge. (Feb 2014) We are hoping to fix it up a bit in the next few years so that it doesn't look so "old & boring" See you next time you are in Whistler Domo Arigato Gozaimasu-Maxwell

We had a great stay with Max and his team! Very friendly hostel! Couldn't do enough for us! We arrived at mid afternoon, with no ski equipment or lift pass and they helped us get it all sorted quickly and cheaply with the best gear. Had a great time! Would stop there again and recommend to anyone! Thanks for everything!
