This place was exactly what I thought it would be. Some rooms are cleaner and nicer than others. But the spaces to hang out were wonderful. However this is one of those hostels where if people are drunk and up late there is no escaping the noise!! I checked out after one night because I was still sick and wanted to be able to sleep. But I found myself coming back just to hang out with the other people there. Truly the best place to meet people! That is what this hostel is about, people!

This place was so dirty so i had to leave after one night. Also, walls thin as leafs and noise coming from upper level when people are walking. Find another place.

Not for the high maintenance traveller, this is a run down building with basic facilities. But the Laotian people who run it have invited you into their home and are very friendly. Excellent for those travelling by themselves, always someone chilling on the balcony to talk to and most people staying there thought it was a great social place and really enjoyed it.

Dont book to stay here!! we turned up and they told us they were renovating/decorating...so sent us elsewhere!!

Great place to meet other backpackers. Central location and great staff! Would definitely stay there again. The bathrooms werent the cleanest but it is a hostel with lots of people going in and out all the time. Spent NYE there and had a wonderful, memorable time!

Nice enough hostel but with a really great location. less then a 2 min walk to the night market and close to almost all of the sights in the town. Also enjoyed the free snake whiskey and the fire!

I thought I was going to hate it here, it looks like a mess, and in some ways it is.. but I absolutely loved it. It was cheap, fun, and had character (bon fire, hammocks..). I didn't like that there was only a small locker, but that's really all you need, unless you're worried about someone stealing your dirty clothes. They also arrange transport for you if you need and have some pretty intense whiskey for free. If youre willing to drink it...

i cancelled my reservation with them the day i arrived......the guy said fine......i looked the place over it is a good starting point......the guy did not charge me anything other then my 10 per cent.....james despot

Some of the beds are hard, so make sure you ask for a real mattress if you like soft beds. Also, some of the rooms don't have doors, so mosquitoes/flies/etc can just fly in. Staff was great.. Very friendly, but make sure you remind them you booked on hostelworld, or else they'll charge you the full amount. The hostel was very social and we met a lot of cool people here!

I have booking for 2 pax in dorm room here for 2 nights stay and received confrimation booking from system. Unfortunelly when we arrive there, we have to move to another hostel nearby. Coz ,over booking. But the new one is better than here.The new hostel name " Munna Backpacker "nice staff and nice location. but this rating we gave for his service mind.

The best hostel I've stayed at! Might not be the cleanest and it's certainly not 5 star accommodation but the people and the vibe make up for it, I have nothing to complain about. Definitely a must for backpackers to Laos.

This place isn't the nicest or the cleanest, but it has a super chill atmosphere and is a great place to meet people!! Utopia is awesome in luang prabang

Good location (5min from night market, straight down the road from Utopia + other bars). Rooms were cool, comfy, and overall pretty good. The staff were awesome--they invited us to an entirely Lao local event (boat races) and really gave us a great treat that we weren't expecting to experience. Not to mention helping book a no-fuss trip to Chiang Mai (tuk-tuk, bus, border, tuk-tuk and another bus). Even better that people from Spicy VV showed up and we got to hang out with lots of people.

I highly recommend this hostel. It's the only one with dorms in Luang Prabang, so if you're looking to meet people it's perfect. I'm not sure why they're rated so low currently. The rooms don't have locks, but there are lockers so you definitely feel like your valuables are safe. It's a 5 minute walk to the center. The staff is amazing and took us out for food at a local place, played pool with us etc. The hostel itself is really funky; they have games, wifi, table tennis, and hammocks.
