Pros: good place to meet people, Staff are very friendly. Cheap. Cons: Very hot in fan room- the one fan doesnt reach all the beds. there are big ants everywhere in rooms. The water cuts out a lot. Our shower wasn't working when we were there so we had to use another dorms shower. The wifi doesn't work. It's a bit of a walk to the beach. But, this place is really cheap. Just don't expect a clean comfortable stay.

Great hostel for meeting people and if your staying long enough to make real traveling friends you might even pick up a traveling partner or group here. It's a young hostel but it suits the jungle vibe. Your on a tropical island after all. Though its an industrialised island there are a few issues with facilities, mainly water preasure in the shiwers... just teething issues. STAY HERE ANYWAY

bathroom was dirty and the room was simply too small. 10 beds in such a small room is uncomfortable

Great place, very lively, short walk from the beach, maybe 10mins. Clean dorm with AC, lockers and shower for 250 baht was really good value.

The people are so great at spicy. I would stay there again just to hang out--it's like an immediate family when you arrive. There always planning fun get together a whether its a BBQ or a day snorkeling. The facility itself could use a lot of love but for the amount of time you spend in the dorm room it's a great value for your money. Administratively they could definitely be more organized (a bit less lazy) however they make up for it with the welcoming atmosphere.

Feels really good to sleep in a peaceful place like Spicytao, in the middle on the forest, when they are too much people down on the beaches. and that's the cheapest place there !

Spicytao Backpackers is not your average run-of-the-mill hostel. Instead of everything being under the same roof, the dorms are spread around in different buildings with a common area in the middle of them. Here you can watch movies on the TV, relax in the hammocks or sit around the table and chat. You'd be hard pressed though to find a more cozy and social hostel on Ko Tao. The location is a tad bit remote, but not bad at all. Five minutes to 'town' when walking. I loved my stay.

Its not very central but not too far to walk. Rooms were clean and the staff were very friendly. Only cold showers and only one person can use wifi at one time.

get what you pay for when staying at Spicytao. Very cheap beds 250BHT/night but you're crammed in a 10bed dorm with an ensuite bathroom( hasn't been cleaned in months). Location is far down a dark dodgy alley and when you think hmm this can't be right you go a little further. When you finally get there you walk through their forest entrance up to reception and are greeted by Pong. He's an English speaking very helpful Thai who loves to drink, party and scubadive. Resort wasn't for me!

Great hostel in a great location, a bit further away from Sairee but its much quieter and easier to sleep at night. The communal area is good for meeting people and chilling out. Certain members of staff were unprofessional but the others great service made up for it. Would stay again!

I really enjoyed my stay at spicy. Seems to be a collection of great characters there always. Also a bit of a work in progress: needs better Internet access and washroom facilities.

it's the worst hostel ever. mold on the pillows! The staff was totally useless, stupid as.. The room we got in was so dirty, not cleaned at all, rubbish was under the bed and in the bathroom was dirty, although the room was empty. we did not get keys for the room since the room is unlocked all the time. we did not stay and we have immediatly left the place due to the mold on the pillow. there are better places. we stayeds in so many places before, first time we left a hostel paying and not stayin

Good hostel with great atmosphere however it was very dirty and the wifi was a joke. Power was also out for the majority of the day time and it is a bit of a trek into the main strip. It was still a good hostel though and I would recommend it.
