The friendly and open philosophy and approach of the Spicy Staff creates a unique atmosphere of community and happiness that pulls each guest into its wonderful world. The large common room is ideal for socializing and there is constantly a buzz of fun flowing through the place. Everybody staying there feels like a big family and always walks away with a smile on their face. In addition to the great social environment, Spicy also has clean bathrooms and good rooms with AC.

We couldn't have chosen any better hostel in Chiang Mai. It is a very cool hostel with a lot of little things that make you smile, for example free bananas for breakfast, book exchange, community events every evening like quiz night, going out together, barbeque or a free ride to the night markets. you can also book trips and tours around chiang mai through the hostel. the owner is very cool and tries to help you as much as he can. the people staying at spicythai are all openminded and very nice

Great value for money, decent staff, clean, safe, good job. One thing, your staff is rather friendly but a bit paternalistic sometimes. Not Steve who's a fine chap, but the other guy, ashen blond guy, who had his little hissy fit about the tea bags / cups that were not cleaned up / sorted out as they were supposed to be, that was a bit of out line. Otherwise it's a solid performance across the board, and i'd suggest it to friends, carry on!

Nice place, bit of a party crowd. Good for meeting people. About a ten-15 minute walk to the old town, I would have preferred somewhere a bit more central but that's just me.

We booked for 3 nights at Spicy Thai in Chiang Mai and had such a fun time that after a brief trip to Pai, we booked for another 3 nights. The staff were very friendly and helpful; always keen to make sure everyone was having a good time. There was a great social vibe, and it was easy to meet and hang out with the other guests. The hostel seemed to attract good people for the most part, and I'd definitely recommend it to my fellow travellers.

This is by the far the best hostel I have ever been in. The two guys on reception desk Luke and Steve make you feel welcome the moment you arrive. Don't expect a pool table, the place looks like a house, and has a relatively medium sized social area, but that makes it great as it enhances socialising. They work hard for you to not only save money but they set up tours to places not many backpackers go, like the local barbecue. I'm considering going back just for this hostel. Highly recommend

This place was by far the best backpackers I have stayed at on my holidays. The lads who worked there were all fantastic and helpful with everything. They were continuously organising activities for everyone to do, football games being one of the best. Met so many fantastic people here, atmosphere was great. Being a solo traveller, this was a great place to stay, easy to make friends, have people to do things with and have a beer with too!

Best hostel I have stayed at in SE Asia. Great social atmosphere and the staff really go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Anything you want to do activity wise or just general advice this place has the lot and gives more. Many thanks to Stephen, Noom and the rest of the staff for giving us all a great experience!!

This hostel is far enough from the downtown market, that you'll have to take a tuk tuk or bike. But if you're looking for a peaceful, friendly hostel, with staff who will recommend and book treks and activities for you, this is a great choice. The upstairs sink was broken for our first two nights there, and the downstairs bathroom and shower area isn't fully enclosed. You have to fight off mosquitoes when you're showering. Breakfast is OK: instant coffee, toast, butter, and jam.

The owners and staff were very attentive to the needs of each guest. They were always ready to help with making travel reservations or suggesting things to see or do in Chiang Mai. Very good time if you stay there.
