Nice hostel with quite a lively, party vibe. Atmosphere was really inclusive with trips/evenings out being arranged every other day and open for all to join. Clean bedrooms and bathrooms, tea and coffee available all day.

The staff who work here are awesome, they really make the hostel! They are so helpful, can recommend all the best trips, places to eat, sights to visit, and they were right every time! I intended to stay for only one night ended up staying 5 and would have stayed longer had I not booked a flight to Bangkok. Made so many friends,. would recommend it to anyone, and would return in a heart beat!

Absolute gem of a hostel. The staff are amazing, super friendly, genuine people. The atmosphere at Spicy is the best i've experienced travelling, great if you're travelling alone. Big table to sit and meet lots of interesting people and then all go out on the town together, 100% reccomend Spicy Thai, then go to Spicy Pai in Pai after...simply wonderful.

An excellent hostel for someone travelling on their own. Great staff and a really good social area with a huge selection of movies. The rooms have great air con and there are hot showers (not that you'd want one.) Theres is virtually nothing I could fault this place on, its a bit out of the town but for 20baht you can go anywhere

Spicythai was a great place to stay. It was extremely easy to meet other travellers. When we first checked into the hostel, we already had a group of people to go on the tours with. Everyng hangs out together and goes out at night. The rooms are clean, no problem really. It is possible to take bus/boat to Pai, and Laos. Definetly recommend !

Nice atmosphere in this hostel, with quality staff who look to get everyone involved in nights out. A very cool hostel, it was just a shame i couldnt book a longer stay (very popular place). Perhaps one for the younger crowd though

it's a party hostel which means getting woken up by other young backpackers as they come in, in the middle of the night. located too far outside the city compared to other hostels. only great thing is the tv with a lot of movies/tv series available

The friendly and open philosophy and approach of the Spicy Staff creates a unique atmosphere of community and happiness that pulls each guest into its wonderful world. The large common room is ideal for socializing and there is constantly a buzz of fun flowing through the place. Everybody staying there feels like a big family and always walks away with a smile on their face. In addition to the great social environment, Spicy also has clean bathrooms and good rooms with AC.

We couldn't have chosen any better hostel in Chiang Mai. It is a very cool hostel with a lot of little things that make you smile, for example free bananas for breakfast, book exchange, community events every evening like quiz night, going out together, barbeque or a free ride to the night markets. you can also book trips and tours around chiang mai through the hostel. the owner is very cool and tries to help you as much as he can. the people staying at spicythai are all openminded and very nice

Great value for money, decent staff, clean, safe, good job. One thing, your staff is rather friendly but a bit paternalistic sometimes. Not Steve who's a fine chap, but the other guy, ashen blond guy, who had his little hissy fit about the tea bags / cups that were not cleaned up / sorted out as they were supposed to be, that was a bit of out line. Otherwise it's a solid performance across the board, and i'd suggest it to friends, carry on!

Nice place, bit of a party crowd. Good for meeting people. About a ten-15 minute walk to the old town, I would have preferred somewhere a bit more central but that's just me.

We booked for 3 nights at Spicy Thai in Chiang Mai and had such a fun time that after a brief trip to Pai, we booked for another 3 nights. The staff were very friendly and helpful; always keen to make sure everyone was having a good time. There was a great social vibe, and it was easy to meet and hang out with the other guests. The hostel seemed to attract good people for the most part, and I'd definitely recommend it to my fellow travellers.
