Overall Spicy Thai was wonderful, absolutely amazing for meeting other travelers! The beds were okay and rooms were clean. Staff was very helpful and location was only 10 minute walk to town. Would definitely stay again.
Really cool place, as you saw from other reviews
This hostel is such a great place to hang out and meet people! By far our favourite hostel in Thailand!!
What a unique place to stay! Really cool tree top type accomodation. It's pretty open so you can hear other people in the next door houses but it has an awesome atmosphere amongst lots of greenery and beautiful views. Common area has hammocks, books and is raised up from the ground - you couldn't wish for a cooler place to stay! Lockers outside. Bit of a walk into Pai centre but this place is so worth it!
good staff and social atmosphere. Would be good if the Grey dorm had the lockers inside the dorm room. Enjoyed meeting everybody and also going on the cliff jump trip!
The only thing missing was hot water in the guys' showers, but maybe I didn't know how to turn it on! The people were amazing, the staff was very friendly, the place is great...the beds are clean and comfortable, the movie selection is unimaginably huge, and we had an amazing time hanging out in the place. It's also close to downtown/the Night Market via tuk-tuk, and there is a 7-11 and great street food just down the street. Would highly recommend staying there!

Absolutely LOVED this hostel! The staff was amazing, and it's a great place to meet people! I booked a cooking class, transportation to Pai, airport transfers, and a trek through the hotel and it was all amazing. The only downside is the location -- you have to take a tuk tuk to get into the main part of town. Although its only 20 baht, it definitely adds up.
Nice hostel. Good place to meet backpackers. Very relaxed.
Awesome! Good common area, staffs nice, could have been a little closer to the central area of old city
This is one the best hostels I've ever stayed at. The staff is really nice and helpful. The people there are great and it's really easy to socialise :)
great atmosphere. very simple facilities, but easy to meet people. chill environment. need a taxi to get to town and points of interest. staff was awesome. door in pink room drove us crazy though. hopefully they fixed it. bathrooms were decently clean, but rooms not.
Excellent place to meet people and have fun but matresses and pillows are very veeeery dirty...
Seriously THE best hostel to stay at in chiang mai! If you want to meet people this is the place to go. There is a huge community area for everyone to come together. I stayed at two other hostels during my time in chiang mai and disliked both. I tried to extend at spicy but it books up fast so book ahead! The staff is amazing!
If you're on the hyper-social hostel buzz, you can't really find a better hostel than Spicy. They've cultivated the ultimate social atmosphere, with a great social area, and the staff organise group activities almost every night, like free group drop-off to the Markets, group outings to swim at lakes or on-site BBQs.
Good place to meet people. Fair dorm rooms, clean sheets and showers not bad. Good if you're going solo and like to party.
I loved my stay at hostel, althoug i was really sick. The staff was really friendly and helped out with everything.
This hostel is fantastic, the only downfall is the location but a taxi is only 20B or a 10 minute walk. It's SO sociable and the staff are great - definitely one of the best hostels in terms of atmosphere and friendliness that I've ever stayed in. Trips were arranged, dinners, outings and film nights. Would 1000% recommend this as a place to stay for a group or a lone traveller.
Nice hostel, but a little out of the main area. The mattress was a bit old and could feel the springs in my back but other than that I enjoyed my stay there!
Great hostel and staff: Rob is a great help in how and what to do around town. Great common area, free internet, TV with loads of films, bar. Great place to meet people, good beds. Virtually everything you want in a hostel. Only negative, unfortunately, is that it is a fair stretch from the main traveller area. Some may think this a good thing, but it does mean a fair trek from the night life and tourist attractions.
Hostel has moved location so it's now a bit far out, but that is the only negative thing about this hostel, everything was spot on!
