Friendly relaxed staff, pleasant common room and excellent location. Nicely laundered sheet sleeping bags. Hostel could do with secure bike accommodation - we were allowed to chain ours to the bannisters in the stair well. Cleanliness left something to be desired - bins unemptied, bags and clothing lying around and a cooked chicken carcass festering in the oven! Otherwise good value for money. Some people might appreciate lockers.

Very nice hostel - friendly staff/great location. Only problem was the lack of lockers for valuables so I had to carry my laptop around with me.

Generally fine, except the room 5 person room was freezing cold and damp the 2nd night I stayed there (seemed like the radiator had stopped working). It felt like camping outdoors, and other guests in the room commented on the unusually cold interior as well. Hopefully they'll have it fixed--the rest of the hostel interior was well heated.

This hostel is very nice and with a beautiful staff. Showers and bathromm are clean and good. This is also a big sitting room and a nice kitchen. The location is perfect to visit St Andrews and it's very cheap. If you go to St Andrews I can recommend it!

Overall the hostel is good, however, the worst part is the heating system does not work. My friend catched a cold and got fever. Therefore, we had to cancel the further trip to Edinburg.

Beds were a little lumpy & mine was very squeaky, but Matt was very kind to suggest he push our beds together since, as a couple, we are obviously use to sleeping next to one another. There was not really any hot water but only staying one night that didn't affect us terribly. I personally loved the fun colors of walls, the large common room and large sleeping room (5 person room) and the location could not have been better, though it was a little difficult to find without a large sign.

Good apart from one bed in our dorm being double booked on the first night. This wasn't discovered until one of our party came home to find their bed had been taken by a stranger

The whole stay was very plesant. Only thing I can complain about was the lack of lockers for valuable items. Apart from that it was a great hostel.

We had a fantastic stay, at St Andrews Hostel. Matt the manager was awesome, he definitely made our stay very enjoyable and went above and beyond to help us. We will definitely be staying again, if we visit St Andrews in the future.

Very pleasant Hostel, staff very helpful, clean, quiet and everything you would want in a hostel - only thing not set-up to secure bicycles (but did allow me to lock up bike behind secure door at base of stairs - don't know how they would accomidate a groups worth of bikes).

Great value for price! However, I stayed on a Tuesday night, and it was extremely noisey in the wee hours of the morning. It was not limited to the common room...people were playing guitar and talking loudly at 2 am right outside our room door. Don't stay here if you need to count on low noise for sleep.

Matt, Emma, and Shad are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The place is small and clean, and the showers and toilets are very clean. Good hot showers. The kitchen is good and the Tesco supermarket is only a block away. The beds are comfortable, but the rooms are cold, just wear a sweater to bed. I've hostelled for 20 year and loved the place, stayed for 3 weeks while doing research at St. Andrews University. Not very noisy at night and they have cable TV and great WiFi connection.
