This is a great hostel with extremly friendly and welcomindg staff. It has a chilled atmdosphere and is clean and cosy. I loved the lounge and the kitchen was organised and very user friendly.

The dorm we slept in had a strange smell, like old sweat or something. The room felt very small due to the many beds in it, a bit more space would not have been bad.

I stay here quite regularly, and always enjoy coming back. St Andrews has a very homely feel, and the staff are fantastic at chatting and helping out whenever you want. It has everything you need including wifi, a good kitchen, big tv and games available, a big living room with sofas, and everything is kept clean and tidy. Other hostels I have stayed in have been more modern with better facilities, but generally are very impersonal and have a lack of atmosphere. This is a great place to stay.

I have stayed at the hostel twice now, once for a short stay and again for a longer (11 day) stay. The location is amazing; banks, shops, post office, bus station, pubs, restaurants, are all within 5 minutes walking distance. On both occassions I have felt very at home, the staff are really friendly and welcoming, as well as very helpful when I had various questions and requests! Once I had figured out the mysteries of the "sleep sheet" I slept exceptionally well. I will definitely stay again.

It was nice and cheap but you have to cope sharing a room with others and using the same toilets and showers they use. But it was a good experience.

Great location in town and right around the corner from the bus station. Online directions on how to get there are confusing (I suggest using street names and landmarks). Staff are really helpful and even had golf clubs to rent. Would definitely stay here again!! Very clean, quiet, spacious, comfortable! Grocery store nearby.

Decent enough; though that guy popping up at the window in the morning, and entering the rooms for grouting or whatever was stupid. It's a place people stay to sleep. Get contractors to come after check-out time, and advise people properly that it will be happening. Definitely, I was unimpressed at the person on a ladder outside at the window on the Wednesday morning. Hence Security = Very Poor Also, staff should have thought of that one... I am unimpressed at the lack of foresight.

The security is actually very good, even though there are no lockers or any other 'secure' storage. We left quite a few expensive items in our room and in the living room for hours at a time and it was fine. Only people staying in the hostel can get in.

That was the best hostel I have ever stayed at! Staff were extremely happy and friendly, they even fed us with ice creams and doughnuts :)) The atmosphere was excellent, much fun and socialising going on! I've made many friends and would definitely recommend staying at this hostel!!! :)

Loved the no curfew wish they had smaller rooms/fewer beds each.

So much potential in a great location but just needed a good clean. Damp smells, smelly towels, grimy walls - there isn't really any excuse for a hostel in the UK to have such poor levels of hygiene and ventilation. Also no security facilities for personal belongings because "it's not that kind of place", maybe stealing doesn't happen but it would be surprising so lockers would be a small step to making people feel a little easier about bringing valuables.

For me this place was perfect. I was only in St Andrews for the weekend to see some sites and this hostel provided me with a comfy bed and clean amenities for a VERY reasonable price. The staff were wonderful and added to the character of this hostel greatly!! I would definitely stay here again. Having a kitchen in a hostel is a great idea as it saves money eating out all the time. Thank you so much for your hospitality! I will recommend you to everyone!
