This was my second stay at St Arnaud's and I would go back again. The location, quiet atmosphere and price are great. The office hours were generous but it was understaffed as there was only 1 person on at any time that I was there during the January holiday period. Customers were sometimes left unattended at the office and the staff member working was really busy: she really earned her pay.

Place looked like it hadn't been touched in 15 years. Bathrooms were rundown and showers were a nightmare to get right (hot, cold, hot, cold). One of the fridges in our room was very noisy as well. The whole place could do with a lick of paint!

Good points =nice dining/tv room& back garden. Only 15 min tram from Flinders Street Station. Reception staff will book trips. Internet available.Bad points = for 90 dollars my room was overpriced very dated and needed a good clean. I woke up on my first morningwith bites on my feet. Communal shower was horrible, I dreaded getting in it all the plaster was coming off and looked unclean. Kitchen closing at 9pm v annoying and no staff there after 9pm is not good, particularly if locked out.

We stayed in this guest house for 2 nights during December '11, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The free breakfast was fantastic. the kitchen was well stocked, the TV room was full of videos and had a good choice available on the satellite tv, the rooms were clean tidy and fresh with new towels every morning. The fridges in our room were an added bonus and a good touch. Two good night's sleep at this hostel we will certainly stay again.

Do not book the recommend airport to hotel service, jet bus ar unreliable, do not return your calls or emails, turn up when they feel like it The hostel is clean and a great location takes 20minutes to walk to the centre or there is a direct tram, only downside I found was there are no safes in the room so you can lock things up but from9pm until 8am you cannot get access to them, also when I checked out they no longer have a storage room so bags are left under the stairs. I would stay again

Averate hostel. Nice staff and not to crowded. Breakfast is given later than promised and there are no free of charge computers with Internet access.

Its the hostel of a million signs to tell you what to do. Very average overall but close to the city. Trams run right past the front door. I wouldn't book airport through the hostel though - go direct to the bus company.

Cold showers and non working TV counter balanced an otherwise pleasant place to stay, with helpful staff and easy access to the tram (10 mins to Fed Sq).

This was a really special place to stay and would definitely stay there again. Beautiful little gem close to the city and lovely surroundings including parklands and shops/stores/cafes.

The building was pretty ordinary, but the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. The staff were pleasant and exceptionally helpful, especially the lovely girl on reception. I would stay again.
