Property Information:
The St.Athans Hotel is a family run, simple and clean budget hotel in the heart of London, within walking distance of the British Museum, the University of London, the New British Library and just a short bus ride away from Madame Tussaud's and the West End with its many shops, Theatreland and famous night spots.
The hotel is situated in the elegant Bloomsbury area, once home to Dickens and Virginia Woolf comprising Grade II listed Georgian town-houses, almost 200 years old. This lends the hotel it's special character, full of interesting original features, with each room decorated differently, making the stay feel more personal than at a uniform looking modern hotel.
The hotel has been with the same family since 1964 and is run by Lucia Geyer together with her three sons, Hans, Stefan, Karl, and daughter Maria-Lisa. We aim to offer a friendly service at great value for money, providing a clean & comfortable home from home; somewhere you can relax and feel welcome, and of course indulge in one of the best breakfasts in town, where you can always ask for more.
IMPORTANT: Breakfast is not included in our prices. We have a coffee house in our premises, offering both English and continental breakfast (8 - 10.30am), as well as lunch until 4.30pm (only Mon - Fri).
We are a 'non-smoking hotel'.
If you have any special needs please tell us. We have a number of rooms on the ground floor that could be suitable for those with movement disabilities, though not suitable for wheelchair use, as stairs and narrow corridors are an unavoidable feature of our 200 year old Georgian building, in which case if we cannot accommodate you we will be able to recommend a suitable local alternative. There are at least 3 steps up from the pavement outside into our building.
Please note that payments made by credit card or foreign debit card incure a 3% charge, and UK debit cards a £1 charge.
Unfortunately we are unable to accept solo, switch or maestro cards as guarantee for the room reservation, but do accept them as payment. We require 48 hours notice in case of a cancellation, otherwise we reserve the right to charge the amount of the first night.
The Geyer Family looks forward to welcoming you to our hotel

I know that this was a very cheap place to stay in London - that said, the website made it out to be something more than it was (which was a pretty basic hostel). Location was great, it was pretty clean - but the room was really small and shabby and the bathroom was on a different floor. Next time I would probably pay a little more for something a bit more comfortable
