The sheets and linens were dirty, worn out and ill-fitting. The bathroom was filthy, the sink was coming out of the wall, the TV didn't work, there was no fan. The only way this place stays in business is because they're the cheapest in town.

The room was really big and the bathroom was clean. The only problem is the kitchen, nothing to cook, only a microwaves.

The St. Vincent's Hotel, while nice on the outside, is horrible on the inside. The rooms are super dingy and unkept. The sheets are at least 20 years old and have spots everywhere. Plastic bags surround the bed because of bedbug problems they've had. If you can afford it, I'd definitely recommend staying somewhere else.

This is a lower priced guest house with many room arrangements. I took what was available during a popular time in the Cresent City, New Orleans JazzFest. It is big place, a former government building for health care. I would definitely stay there again.

St Vincent's has a gorgeous building in a fairly pretty neighborhood, but the rooms are DISGUSTING. So bad, I am demanding at least a partial refund, and will cancel payment on my card if they don't give it to me. I have bites all over my body from bed bugs and some kind of other nasty creatures. People smoke in the hallways, there was a gross used razor blade left from the previous guest, and old fried chicken in the dresser drawer.

I loved it. The staff was great! My only complaint was a lumpy mattress, but place's charm made up for that.

The location is great (a short walk to St Charles street car line as well as several bus routes). You can also walk to most of the tourist sites in New Orleans from here. It was a little quiet for what I was looking for, but that's not a bad thing; I was just looking for a bit more of a party scene while I was in town.

If you are willing to walk 15-20 minutes you can easily be ar Bourbon Street and five minutes to the south is the more relaxed Garden district the location is a convenient one. It is not in a flashy area, but I never felt the slightest discomfort walking in the area also during night time as some reviews are saying. All in all you pay for what you get and it is a fairly good trade-off.

This is like any hostel, don't go if you're looking for luxury but definitely go if you're traveling and want a roof over your head, facilities, and security. Not to mention the location is perfect if you wanna spend the night on town. Don't listen to reviews that say its horrible, that's unfair it's great! The staff is really friendly and helpful. I would recommend this to any laid back traveler.

Stayed 3 days-Apr 23-26, 2013. Nothing happened to my camera when I left it in the room (room 4 in main building). I never saw a live cockroach, was never bitten by a bed bug. It was a little dusty around the edges but it is not dirty. There was a slight musty smell in my room. Clean sheets and towels. Bathroom and room itself was very large. Lenny, Kristy and Brandi made my stay very enjoyable. A park nearby on Camp Street. Within walking distance to French Quarter. It had a private parking lot.

The place is a beautiful old building in a really cool area that's walking distance to most venues. The bad is that the beds are stained, and you'll find dead roaches in every corner. If you go in expecting a bit of dirty then you'll be pleasantly surprised, if you go in expecting a hotel you'll hate it.

A ridiculously amazing building in terms of structure. It's history is as rich as New Orleans' food. Slightly creepy to enter at night time; it has to be haunted. The rooms were honestly better than what we were expecting given the extremely reasonable price. The view of New Orleans from the wide, spanning balconies was fantastic. The staff was very friendly, and the check-in/out process was a breeze. We will definitely be staying here again. It made a perfect and memorable girl's weekend.

We booked for a 6 male dorm, but we ended up in a stincky 14 male dorm, paying it much more than we were supposed to. The staff was very rude, grose and unprofessional: they made many mistakes about the money and they were always yelling in front of the guests. The second day we made an upgrade for a private room, but it was dirty, smelly and with many insects. The window was blocked, and there was a lot of humidity. In the end it was a horrible experience, and we weren't able to fully enjoy NO.
