Gentleman behind the counter was nice. Hostel itself didn't had much atmosphere. A lot of notes everywhere what you weren't allowed to do mainly. Tiny hallway was full off people on arrival as it was the only space with Wifi. Room wasn't the cleanest either. lot of thick layers of dust around the flooring, etc. Would go somewhere else next time.

No wifi in the rooms makes it somewhere I wouldn't immediately recommend

Wonderful place I have ever stay in New Zealand. Clean, warm bright room and helpful staffs. It has great character for a backpacker, location is very convenient for shops and transport as I just have to walked less than 10 minutes from the bus station.Love the view from the room garden.Value for money. Will come back again with my buddy.

It was in a weird part of town that was kinda out of the way, and it seemed really empty and creepy. The kitchen and rooms were nice though, and the WiFi was free.

Thank you for the feedback. Yes, some guest do find our place creepy and quiet as it is quite a huge Heritage Victorian building. And most of our guest love the place for its quiet, charm and chic that is not found elsewhere in the city which is noisy and rowdy. We are just a few minutes walk to the cafes and shops in the city.

Features like the roof top garden are closed, which is a trouble when it is listed as one of your fire escapes. Other rooms are locked from one side but can be reached through other passages. Really weird place, stay somewhere else if you can.

The roof garden has been locked for the safety of guest and also for unsupervised your children. This is not used as a fire escape as there are other escape routes in the hostel.

Nothing positive to say about this hostel. Absolutly no cleaning has ever been done during our stay. Everything is disguting. The kitchen is so dirty that we would rather go eat outside than consider using it. Regarding the bathrooms it was even worst but we didn't any other choice. Really needs a hygien inspection. The free wi-fi is only working around reception area. Worst backpacker experienced in New Zealand. We would never recommend this place to anyone.

Hi thank you for the feedback. Our kitchen is cleaned twice a day and more if necessary. Sometime it may be a bit messy as other people are still cooking and this happened in other Backpackers too. We have a fixed schedule for daily cleaning of all areas and guest are also encouraged to be considerate and helps to keep the place clean after each used so that we can keep the price of stay low.
