Only stayed there for a short time as it was a stop-over on our way up to Auckland from Wellington. We arrived late and office had already closed but were grateful to the staff in office for opening up specially to check us in and get us bedding etc. Was a friendly hostel, good facilities, and I imagine it would be a fun place to stay if thats what you're there for. If you want quiet then its probably not for you, lots of noise at night and woken early by young children in the corridoor.

Great old house kept in a really nice condition, nice polished floors and native timber. This is supposed to be the party end of town but there wasnt much going on mid-week. Great free outdoor spa (its HOT) after a day up the mountain, cant go wrong. Will be back
