Great hostel, clean, fantastic location just a few minutes walk from town. Would definitely stay here again.
Best feature of this hostel: great location! It's perfect to go out at night and right at the city center! The included breakfast is pretty good and helps you start you day on the right foot. The staff is mostly really helpful (apart from one really rude staff member). But: - You guys need to add more outlets, it's 2014 people have phones and stuff to charge! - A little more cleanliness would be perfect in the bathrooms I totally recommend for a week end with friends!

No wifi in rooms. Large chain hostel so it's typical to have large groups in there (schools, families, etc). Not the type of hostel I'd recommend going to if you're traveling solo as it can be difficult to meet people here. Basically in Vondelpark, although there's not much to do around there. Anything worth checking out tends to be ~15min away. With that said, very clean facility.
It was just ok. Breakfast was the best I had seen in awhile. But with dead of summer no AC! Some staff were great and some seemed like they either hated their job or the customers. For what I got it was over priced but that's what you get in the summer. At least the Internet worked... Mostly.
The free breakfast was awesome! More accessible power outlets would be nice.
I felt very safe as the staff checked to make sure you had a key as you entered, and then there were two locks on top of that to get into your room. The locker situation was great and all of the facilities were very nice. Excellent location- we could walk to literally everything we wanted to see from the hostel!
My room 'A' was hot & stuffy. Better ventilation would be greatly appreciated. Also, in this modern age, with everyone having at least one device (smart phone, tablet, camera, GPS, etc), EACH bed should have its own receptacle for charging; this is a priority! It's not enough to leave a device with the gracious front desk overnight; people like to monitor their texts and emails overnight. Each bed should also have it's own reading lamp. Overall, a very good place, with a few refinements needed
Positives: the location alone can earn this hostel 5 stars. The staff members are friendly and are eager to help you get familiar with the city. The showers are clean enough. Lockers are fine. Biggest negative: if you're staying in this hostel during the summertime, please be prepared to sweat all night long. It's petty to complain about the lack of air conditioning when staying in a hostel, but the level of humidity in StayOkay is pretty wild (at least in the dorms with 12+ people).
Couldn't be in a better location. Quick access from central station via tram or metro, but walking to it if it's your first time in the city is great too as it takes you past some important sites. The only downside for me was the lack of electrical outlets in the large dorm I stayed in (room 11), but there are plenty in the bar, which is a nice bar. Great breakfast.
Staff were friendly apart from one female behind the reception desk who got very snappy on occasions..! Otherwise very happy!!!

Overall it was a decent stay, as I was not in the room much. Clean toilets/showers. Although the water from the showers was very very slow, so it was a bit annoying to take a quick shower. It was a hot few days in Amsterdam and they dint turn the ventilator up, so in the 20 person dorm it was hot, smelly and quite hard to sleep. For a couple of days of sleep and party its good....
We were very impressed with the place in general, and despite some of the reviews mentioning unfriendly staff, we found the staff very friendly! The dorms were clean and everyone staying there was a great laugh. Be warned though, the windows don't open very far and in the summer it was extremely hot. Breakfast was basic, just cereals, breads (with ham and cheese) and juices, but good enough for most people. Overall, we would recommend to anyone; great position in the city and good quality.
Great location, good breakfast, and lockers in the rooms. The WiFi didn't work in the room but there was lots of space in the common areas:)
This place was ok. Stayed in the 20 person dorm which we found to be a lot. There were a few people that ruined it for us. The overnight front desk guy was rude. I would recommend looking early and booking a different hostel
Lives up to its name, was okay. Was kind of annoying that there were very little places to charge your devices. Only a few plugs in the common spaces. Also what was up with there begin no place to dry you hands in the bathroom??? Apart from those annoyances was an okay place to stay.
The location sounds to be great although the hostel isn't representative of a good time in Amsterdam. The staff is cold (the ladies are very nice but the men are arrogant and unhelpful), the facilities are cramped and there is no sense of socializing within the hostel. Will not go back.
