I was very surprised by the whole lot of the hostel, the commodities and the cleaness. You may think the location isn't ideal at first, but is full of charm, is 2 steps from everywhere, and as quiet as it can get. Nevertheless, keep in mind you have to go up many stairs, so beware of going there with a very heavy suitcase (unless you come from up the hill down). Breakfast was complete and all you can eat. All in all, it sure is one of the best hostels i've ever been to. Quality-price, the best.

Nice and cheap hostel. Great breakfast, nice kitchen, great internet conection, very clean and warm. Not very well located and the rooms have problems with the humidity. I think they definitely have to do something with that, the rest is ok.

Perfect place. Only downside are the bathrooms. To few and always occupied. Besides that very nice!

The private apartment it's amazing! You can have everything, a private home with kitchen, dvd player, sofas, doublebed.. near to the metro and train station Sao Bento, the Douro river and the Hard Club where you can eat, dance, smoke and listen to concerts. If you go to Porto, choose StepHouse.

Really wonderful staff! The hostel itself appears new and was always clean. Yes, the location can be difficult to find but once you do it's convenient.

This was a quaint little hostel right on the Douro river. My friend and I rented their apartment, which was located about a five minute walk from the main hostel and made for an excellent alternative to a hotel. We were within an easy walk of downtown, and were quite comfortable. The only downside was that the bed was terribly squeaky with every move one made. If you sleep lightly, you'll wake yourself up every time you roll over!

I really enjoyed my stay there. It's har to find location made it a bit more attractive I thought. And I always saw it from view of the city. So I'll point out later to my family in the pics where I stayed. Cheers

Not easy to find. Apartment separated in different building, so you need to climb steps twice :) Unfortunatly wi-fi, tv,some lights didn't work. But its OK hostel for a short stay.

Stayed in the apartment.Nice apartment and very private. The double bed is in serious need of a change. Not the most comfortable.Stiff backs after two nights stay. And the couch had a massive hole in the base.Otherwise a nice apartment and close to the river front.
