Did not like the room lighting having to wait for people to stop reading at 1am to turn light off is not great. Room too hot, please moderate heaing. Having to pay for wifi is poor 20 mins for a quid, I brought my laptop so I could keep in touch with home. There are hostels in London which are cheaper and give wifi and free breakfasts. Plus most have single room options.

Clearly overpriced if you compare to other youth hostel. It costs more to sleep at Stirling Youth Hostel than some hostels in London and Glasgow where both even offer free breakfest. Now you would say that the quality of the rooms in Stirling would be better...but no, it is pretty much the same thing.

Sitrling YH confirms my positive experience since 1981 with Scottish YHs. Friendly and competent staff. The Stirling hostel has an excellent and historical location. There are activity rooms and adequate facilities for those who want to get their own meals. The continental breakfast for £3.50 gets you off to a good and nutritious start.

Staff was efficient but not overly helpful or what I would call friendly. A guest in my room snored the whole night and I hardly slept. There is a good reason for separating guests by age group - younger guests are not as likely to snore. Give those of us who are less likely to snore at least the chance for a good night's sleep. And the water in the rooms from the sink is not drinkable - what's with that?!
