Terrible! only stay if you're desperate, the YHA's are the same price and much better. Standing water in all the bathrooms, no lockers in the bedrooms, loud (above a bar)..

Fridges in kitchen dirty, no power in sockets in bedrooms on first floor - reported twice, no internet access, only 2 toilets for whole floor, kitchen cleaned in morning but disgusting by end of evening,no staff on site. Beds in private rooms clean and comfortable, staff from World Square Hostel very polite and keen to help - let us upstairs to use internet, reported power failure but nothing done. Good location for city centre, Darling Harbour etc. $Au100 per night excessive, esp without power.

Kitchen is newly renovated, which is awesome. However, what is less awesome is how people using the kitchen treat it. It looks like a war zone by the end of the day. Hostel in general is not very clean or nice. The people living there were nice. Fire alarm went off once because of morons, manager kicked them out at 4 am in the morning. Then he walked around threatening people that if they let them in again they will be kicked out as well. Because of this, kitchen is closed from 11pm. Bad hostel

We booked a private double room and got a room with four beds. The place is okay clean but really unpersonal and not very pleasant. Only one bath was working, toilet paper and soap missing. The kitchen was under renovation which was first mentioned after payment.

Staff friendliness, cleanliness of room and location were fantastic! Reception is 2 blocks away and 2 floors up, although only a 5 min. walk away this is a big hassle when you are carrying big back packs and lots of luggage. Hostel is undergoing major reconstruction with no kitchen available. Security was non existent as residents would wedge entry door open for non-residents to get in, as a result we got no sleep desipte complaining to the staff due to ALL NIGHT PARTIES. NOT VALUE FOR MONEY!

This hostel is in a good location but when I was there- building work started at 7am, there was no kitchen here and only some of the showers were working. There are no staff here there in the hostel down the road.

A very bad hostel at the moment. They are doing renovation so no kitchen, no space, early morning wake ups from the work and dust everywhere. I was not warned when i checked in this was happening and paid for 3 nights upfront so was really hacked off. Recpetion being 2 blocks away was also just a pain. They also shut the pub half way through the rugby for "plumbing work", turned out it was for some filming to be done, why lie? In short, avoid til the work is done and even then take care.

I've definitely seen better hostels... Building was a bit old and smelt (though not intolerably bad), and could have been cleaner. Staff was friendly and helpful enough, but there's no staff in the hostel itself. Anything you need is at World Square Hostel, a few minutes' walk away, including staff, wi-fi, laundry etc. At least they had a kitchen, showers and bathroom in every floor... Still, this is definitely the cheapest hostel around, and for just a few days I found it was worth the money.
