We had a great time in Stray cat hostel, the place is simple but clean, well located, 30m from a tram station which goes directly to the old istanbul. The double room was clean, as were the toilets.

very simple, not quite dirty but not overly clean, bright fluorescent lights and a smokey feeling. Staff is very friendly. Location is ten minute walk from all the action in Taksim. wi-fi is spotty. personally need something with more comfortable.

our visit to the city would not have been nearly as memorable without Stray Cat. the owner personally offered advice and assistance that helped us experience the city in a really spectacular way. this place attracts the best kinds of people and there is an enormous space for socializing yet if one desires a few moments alone or a good nights rest, those are possible too. two minutes walk to the tram to the touristy sights and a ten minute walk to bars/clubs. (and it doesn't smell like cats!)

Has character (there's stray cats wandering around, hence the name) but the security is woeful. The front door isn't locked, and neither were the shared doom rooms. Anyone could wander in and steal your stuff. The staff working there were nice, but the shower was barely a trickle and the facilities a bit lacking. Not a bad option, but I probably wouldn't stay there again if I went to Istanbul. I'm sure there are better options.

Other reviews mentioned the smell of cat wee and cigarettes in the entrance and common room strongly advise to read those reviews!! Loved the cats, okay bed and shower (however lost water pressure most of the time and that wasn't when showering in the busier time), beds a single beds and small lockers would be better if they had bunks and better lockers to create more space in the dorm rooms. Included breakfast was average in comparison to other hostels.

just down the hill from taksim, it\'s a great place beyond the noise. kittens are cute and staff is friendly. other than that, how well you\'ll enjoy your stay depends on what other people are staying there at the time.

Loved our stay. Ugur is the man. Ask to sing metallica with him!! I loved hanging out in the common room as it was really social. As a smoker i appreciated being able to smoke inside but if youre not it might not be so great. Super relaxed, super cool place to stay close to istikal road.

Be aware that if you have asthma or any sensitivity to smoke, they allow their guests to smoke (profusely) in the unventilated common areas. The smoke was so thick when we arrived that I could hardly breathe, and we ended up not spending time in the common areas because of it, and therefore, didn't meet a lot of people. The staff is friendly though, the cats are cute, we had a reasonably comfortable bed, and hot water in the shower. The hostel is also very close to Taksim and the metro tram.

My boy friend and I loved our stay at Stray Cat. We booked a double room. Sheets and NICE, full-sized towels were provided for free, and we had a very comfortable stay. The employees are diverse, helpful, interesting, and friendly and definitely made our stay even better. There was a cool mix of other guests that weekend so we really enjoyed the atmosphere as well.

I really enjoyed my stay in Stray Cat. After staying in many hostels I can say, that I really loved the nice, chilled atmosphere there and I felt very welcome. The location is great, the stuff is wonderful - you get much more than you pay. I would highly recommend it (even if this might mean that there will be no more free room for me while my next time in Istanbul :) ). Really, I am very satisfied!

I had 5 fantastic days at Stray Cat to kick off my trip to Asia. The 2 main staffmember are very helpful & friendly - One of them took us with him to bars a couple of nights. I highly recommend thıs hostel if you like a social experıence in a place with interesting backpackers. Very high value for money. Lasse from Denmark.
