Sudpfanne Hostel Reviews

The staff were very helpful and the bathrooms were clean and functional, apart from a cold shower. The room itself was big and in a very central part of town, very handy to see all the sights Heidelberg has to offer. The only problem was that the heater in our room didn't work and the windows didn't seal properly so we spent the night in a freezing room.

It is nice place. Perfect location. Wifi was great. Can't beat the price.

Location was AMAZING, would stay there again. Not many people there though (which can be good and bad, privacy, but lonely), but that may have been just because it was so cold when i went to heidelberg

They charge 3-euros more, for the bed linen, and it was not on the description. Moreover, it was incredibly noisy!

Hallo, wir bekamen für das Drugstore einen Gutschein, aber nur für 1 Frühstück. Als wir frühstücken wollten, gab es nur noch Kaffee, keine Croissants mehr.

I book and pay deposit online. On arrival,the balance to pay increases by 3 euros. (I am told this is made clear on the site -not to me. Upon inquiry, I am told in a very unfriendly manner that this is for the sheets and bedding costs. I have paid this before in previous hostels but have been giving sheets towels etc. Here the same sheets were just on the bed. The hostel is charging extra just because it wants to. When asked to talk to management, I am told I can take my money and go elsewhere.

Bathroom was clean, bit odd to be given key at bar and sent on our way to find our room in the centre of town. Staff unfriendly, just asked for money, gave us the key and sent us on our way. Sheets in room v old beds not brilliant. Located on fairly loud street, partly because of freshers week for students though so that was not too bad.

Overall it is ok. The hostel room is not very clean.

waited 30minutes once the staff noticed me to check in. no kitchen. no real common room besides the pub. do yourself a favour and spend the extra cash on the other hostel in heidelberg.

Private rooms are really bad looking and I cancelled the room after seeing it. There has been or still is a water damage in the ceiling and I didn't want to stay in the hostel at all after seeing the furniture and general condition of the rooms. Other reviewers have also given bad reviews for private rooms away from the main building. However the main building might be really good hostel? The private rooms aren't...

The cleanest hostel I have ever stayed in, rooms were massive, they had parking for my bike all in all a great place to stay BUT It is NOT a party hostel

I was extremely impressed with the Sudpfanne! The location in the middle of the old town is great, the staff friendly and helpful and the room & bathroom clean, tidy and quiet. Everything just as it should be in a good hostel. And the authentic German food in the attached restaurant is absolutely delicious. If I return to Heidelberg, I will definately stay at the Sudpfanne again!

I didn't stay in the main hostel. Wifi access would have been good. And another toilet at least given the number of rooms.

Couldn't have been better, the owner was extremely kind and helpful and dinner in the restaurant was the best thing we had in Germany. We had rooms at a different address but this moved us closer to town centre and the room and shower were clean and pretty. The other bar staff could have been friendlier at the restaurant but otherwise I would definitely recommend staying here!

salad with chicken breast is excellent, HOWEVER there are BED BUGS or some insects like that
