Sumo was a great place to stay! Sumo was clean; the location was convenient; the woman who worked there was very friendly and spoke good English; and the place had a lot of character. I wish I could have stayed longer!

Very nice place to stay in, though I was in dormitories where a person could have more privacy. The location is excellent, very close to the station and nightlife. The place had its own cozy atmosphere.

An old traditional house and former temple, interesting and homely if you don`t look for new places with all kinds of modern facilities. Not a place for loud drinking nights. But everything you need is there, Kitchen, free Skype phone, free internet plus a lovely owner that does everything to oblige, inform and help. Women will feel fine, 4 beds can be screened off. Location is ideal, 100 m to subway and walkable distance to Umeda Sky willer express station and Osaka station. Very recommended

The location was a big plus, right next to the subway, and even just a bit of a walk from the main station. The beds were clean and the place certainly had character. Staff was friendly and helpful. The one complaint I have was that I could never get away from the smell of cigarette smoke whenever I was there.

NIce cosy Hostel in the middel of Osaka, I'm sure I'll visit again

I've never reviewed a hostel before, but Sumo Backpackers was such a cool little place, I felt it deserved it. The woman running the place was so friendly and helpful and just full of life, and the hostel itself was so quirky and interesting, it was like staying in a house at a uni. I loved it. Made me wish I'd been in Osaka longer.
