Located on Vancouver Island, in the heart of the Cowichan Valley outside Duncan. This guesthouse is evolving towards a model-lifestyle with modesty, sustainability and ecological-awareness as their goal. As guests explore the grounds they will find most things to have been hand-crafted from recycled, re-used, found, and fabricated materials. Sun Lotus tries to avoids consumerism, waste and consumption and the profoundly negative effects it has on the environment and individuals.
They aim to prove that creativity curbs consumerism! Therefore you can expect to find the accommodations to be quaint, adequate, and frugal, but still very attractive.
That being said, you will find the extraordinary natural beauty and warm energy of the property embracing and ultimately relaxing as you stroll the grounds enjoying the extensive gardens, forests, clean & warm swimming-pond, sun-decks, hammocks and on-site activities. And although there is no common kitchen, delicious, nutritious, hearty home-cooked meals, usually of international flair, are provided at a reasonable price.
Not surprisingly, Sun Lotus Art House has become a very popular site for Vancouver Island weddings leaving virtually no availability on Fridays & weekends throughout the spring and summer. So, most guesthouse bookings are taken only on Monday thru Thursdays.
Sun Lotus Art House is a central location from which to explore the whole of the southern half of Vancouver Island, being one hour's drive from either Victoria or Nanaimo, with their most famous local-activity being the amazing tubing expedition they provide on the beautiful & historic Cowichan river.
Breezy, sunny & warm, this uniquely hand-crafted venue, with wonderful southern exposure, is rustic, relaxed and blessed with undeniable Feng Shui-a true escape.
Stay in the private pond-side tipi (2-4 people) or the private bunkhouse cabin (2-10 people)
