Sundance is a great small hostel to meet people! Gee is great fun and really good for organizing tours. Bathrooms could be a little cleaner and it is a bit out of the way from the main backpacker area but only $2 for a tuk-tuk.
Jee, the owner/manager was always there and always helpful. She gave advice on where to eat, directions, she even took a group of us to a local waterfall in her sisters truck one day. There is a room with seating where you can meet other travelers. A washing machine is available for 20 baht to wash all your dirty clothes. The beds are nice and thick, but so are the pillows. The only drawback to the place is its proximity to the old town. It took about 20-25 minutes to walk there.
Get what you pay for, its not the best but its not the worst! x
Excellent hostel, i booked for only 3 nights but ended up staying for a couple of weeks. The staff was very hospitable and helpful and took us out for a trip to the Tiger Kingdom and the Mae Sa Waterfall. All the beds and bathrooms were very clean and the atmosphere in the hostel was excellent. There is a local market only a few steps away where you can get the best food at an incredible price. Transportation is at your disposal when you need it. Highly recommended for your stay in Chiang Mai!
Really great hostel. Beds and facilities are clean and seem new. The owners are really sweet and will do everything like book tours and help you rent bikes or motos. They also own a great (and cheap!) massage place downstairs. Had a great stay in Chiang Mai!

I had a wonderful stay at Sundance Hostel. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I booked for 2 nights but ended up staying for a whole week. It was easy to find coming from the train station and a good area to be based in for the week (lots of local food withing walking distance and the staff helped arrange transport for activities). I met some nice people staying here too and we went trekking together.
