Lovely spot, amazing view. It was a little hard to find in the village, had to walk around for a while before seeing the sign on the side of the building. Friendly staff, English spoken and they were very helpful with our plans and sightseeing. Food grown locally as much as possible, so it was good to "eat local". We had a private room with bathroom, so it was more like a basic hotel room than a hostel. Good meals available. Highly recommend the Sunny Guest House.

Right in the middle of the rice terraces in an authentic village. Get a shared minivan to the guesthouse. Not marked within the village (follow signs to Jack's Guesthouse and walk past the huge construction site). Rooms were tidy and clean. Hot water and Wifi available. Restaurant limited (noodle soup for breakfast is very good). Owner is knowledgeable about trekking routes, but a little superficial, could offer more in depth advise.

Great place with friendly staff, who invited us to eat or have tea together. We went in low season, so we were almost the only guests which was great for relaxing, plus we got a discount on one of the rooms with view on the rice terraces. The view might not be astonishing during summer, because the rice plants are growing, but it's still beautiful and pleasantly warm.

Not the easiest place to get to, but well worth it. Absolutely beautiful inside and out. We rolled out of bed every morning at dawn to enjoy the sunrise over the terraces from the roof deck or the garden patio. The food was great and everyone was kind and helpful. Someone had a great idea here of going through everything (menu, local guide book, wall map) and writing English translations. So, if you don't speak much Chinese or Hani you won't be entirely lost.

The staff there have a great sense of humor and are willing to make your stay as comfortable as possible. At times, my poor Chinese skills limited our understanding of what I was trying to ask, but we always were able to work it out in the end. During low season (June/July), rooms can be inquired into for a discount if interested. My one recommendation: if staying in the dorm, make sure to bring a towel and toilet paper.
