Free breakfast, tea and coffee are always a good thing. Lockers available and staff always available. Free pick up and drop off at the railway station make this a great place to stay. Did a great value Gobi tour with them too! There is an awesome Sri Lankan restaurant called Celonta just around the corner which provide some great veggie options if you are struggling with Mongolian cuisine.
Picked up from the station at 5.30am! Tour to Gobi desert was brilliant, just too short at 7 days. It would be better if the door was locked during the day.
This hostel feels more like a home, and it really is: the owner, a middle aged Mongolian woman, is friendly and very helpful in organizing tours and making your stay as smooth as possible. There is a small breakfast in the morning, tea and coffee plus a great atmosphere all day long: it's very easy to make new friends here. Been here over a week and coming back at some point in the future.
Really nice place to stay, excellent trip to the Gobi for cheap. And, important thing, the owner knows how tomake people comfortable and is always ready to help you! Also possibility to stay longer than booked.
The hostel had a very social but relaxing atmosphere. They picked me up and then dropped me at the station for free and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Great place! Dojlmaa, the lady who runs the hostel is fantastic and so helpful. The hostel is really good and I went on a seven day tour with Sunpath and it was awesome! Great value for money. Stay here if you're in UB.
A nice place right in the city centre, friendly and helpful landlady who does not pressure you into booking a trek or tour there. Recommended for the budget traveller.
This is a clean, bright and sunny hostel that we used while we were in Ulaanbataar for a couple of days. Our room was a bit cramped but then we were there to just plonk our backpacks and head out, so it didnt bother us that much. The host was very courteous and helpful. The place itself is a bit difficult to find, but again the host and her husband were very helpful to come to the street to find us and take us to the hostel. Also, they provide a free transfer to the train station early morning.
From the entrance the hostel isn't great...but inside is lovely, warm, clean and comfortable. The hostel occupies 2 separate apartments on the 2nd floor of a building. Both have mixed dorms and comfortable living/kitchen areas with sofas, table, utensils ETC. There's only one bathroom per apart which could be an issue. There's a laundry service, a computer, free wifi throughout and the owner is fantastic - so helpful and friendly. She'll arrange anything for you at the cheapest price I found!

Got the feeling that if you don't book a tour here then they're not interested. We were told the hostel was full when we asked to stay another day, then as we were leaving we said we would return later to ask about tours, and immediately she said she might actually have some rooms free. Door remains unlocked and security isn't great, but location is good and it's clean. Claims it is 24 hr reception but they always made an issue if we wanted to return later.
In developing countries such as Mongolia you are never going to be spoilt with all the usual great hostel touches. Sunpath makes up for that with faultless hospitality! Super clean and the staff truly can't do enough for you. They stored our baggage for us for a night when we went to a Ger camp and even allowed us to shower when we returned late the next day, even though we were not staying the night! Nice little social area too. Understand your in Mongolia and you will love this little place!
The owner wasn't nice as soon as she realized we won't book a tour with her.
I got the impression, that if you didn't take a tour, your bed was not safe for long and you got treated unfriendly by the owner. Some tourists got even kicked out, the reason were arriving guests who never came in the end. I got a tour and was treated very nicely then(even got free transfer to trainstation), tour was good due to driver and inexperienced but lovely young guide. Hostel is well located, clean and they do your laundry(!), atmosphere average and bathroom always busy.No 24h reception
The hostel and tours itself is good. The problem are the owners. We were isolated after a complaint from the hostel life. We had to change the rooms into another flat and it was forbidden to speak with other guests. The owners are very greedy and they mean, the guests were stupid. I can not really recommend this hostel. The owners cashing employees and guests! the inhaberin has let us watch that we do not talk with other guests about our complaint. I advise everyone not to go to this hostel.

I've stayed in 4 UB hostels and this is by far my favourite - it beats the rest on cleanliness, atmosphere, comfort and security. I get the impression that the owner makes next to nothing on the hostel and that it's really just a launchpad for the tours. She doesn't put a hard sell on but don't get comfy if you're not looking for a tour, you'll be ousted. So the golden rule here is to keep her thinking that you might take a tour!
Fantastic friendly place with a lovely owner! Hostel is an appartment in one of those sovjet-style housing blocks; feels more like a small appartment home than a hostel, and everything is spotlessly clean. Easy to chat to people and get tours started - would definately recommend that place!
Smack in the city centre, clean and homely.
Fantastic hostel! The tours are great value for the money as long as you can get 4 people, and the staff is extremely helpful with recommendations and train tickets etc
Awesome hostel and a wonderful, friendly owner who is always there to help you or just have a chat. Sunpath is definitely my favorite hostel in Ulaanbaatar.
Friendly hostel with excellent staff located not far from the main square. I didn't take a tour with them but I heard the tours offered are good. The only problem was the lack of bathrooms. Just one for about 20 people is hard work
