Waaay too hot for no air conditioning. Really hard to find. I got bitten by either fleas or bedbugs.
Extremely difficult to find (was attacked by a dog along the way). No signs to show the way. Very dark. Rooms were filthy, the toilets were broken. Shocking experience
There was rarely a supervising member of staff available to offer information or help, and we had to depend on cleaning staff for help. When there was a member of staff around, they often seemed unwilling and uninterested, certainly far from friendly and welcoming. Furthermore, information they provided about an expensive evening boat trip on the Yangzte was incorrect and we ended up feeling like we'd spent money on something completely different to what the hostel explained we were getting.
A beautiful little hostel - character of the building you will not find in many other places. The beds are very hard (but comfy clean sheets & pillows) & there is a school next door so early morning wake up calls by the children - but hey welcome to China!! The character of the building & location more than makes up for this. Helpful staff :)
The staying here was really good start of my trip in China. The staff is really helpful. I appreciate their help and advices very much.
Stay here for location and charm. An old four-sided Chinese building with open-air courtyard in middle, nestled in quiet old Chongqing staircases and old houses. Nice atmosphere. Staff not warm or particularly helpful, in fact I would say poor. Price for private double is too expensive in relation to space and facilities. Not good for couples as walls retain no sound. Worth it if willing to overpay a bit for location/atmosphere, if not then find a better deal elsewhere.
