A pleasant place to stay, not as much noice from the road as other hotels, the hotel owner is a real character, a very nice bloke who is very easy to get along with. It is a ver short (20M) walk to the river, goldentemole and nepali temple , there are numerouse restaurants, internet cafes etc near the hostel, I would recommend this place to my friends, and i would stay here again

Good place in the old city. The cousin who works there wasn't nice or trustworthy. I would not be the only guest to say that, he was very disrespectful to my wife. Overall the place was solid.

We stayed at Suraj Guest House for 5 nights and it was nice experience. We met very nice people there, the staff was helpful and friendly. Our room was clean with sooo comfortable bed and soft blanket which we really appreciated! The location is also good, very close to the river. I really recommend staying there!

Lovely place. Decor is great, location is great. Prabu is a very nice guy and his family is really sweet! However... there is this one employee, Guaruv (sp?) who's quite sleazy. He tried to get me to pay him $190 USD to have my fortune read and then attempted to convince me that I should pay for +$50 USD yoga classes. Obviously these things can be found for much cheaper in Varanasi. Agree to let him show you around, but that's it. He'll try to dissuade you from using Lonely Planet.

The location of the hostel is really great and so is the staff. Pratibh is very friendly and helpful. The room I had for the first two nights was nice and clean and had an attached and also clean bathroom with hot shower. For the third night I had another room with shared bathroom, wich was less clean and only had cold shower. I also had a guided tour through Varanasi with Gorauw from the hostel, wich was good too.

Average guest house with no nice terrasse and restaurant like almost ALL other guest house. No view at all from the rooms, except a very noisy chapel. Not so friendly staff, who would give you ridiculous appointments in the middle of the afternoon to provide infos. Why not giving tips / infos when customers request it ? I can't understand that. It is clear that the well being of the tourists coming is not their 1st priority. Too bad.
