A very funky hostel a few steps away from Hermosa beach and right in the middle of some good bars and restaurants.

Overall a good hostel! Very close to the beach! Staff were very friendly! There were quite a few long term people who had formed a clique which made it uncomfortable! The common area was tiny! Too many rooms! Knock a couple of Walls out to make some space!

This was an awesome hostel to stay at. Unfortunately, due to the size of L.A. it is pretty much impossible to get around the city without a hire car. This hostel is great, in a really nice part of L.A. on a really nice beach. The staff are great and always helpful and nice.

if you want to go to beach and have fun then location is not a matter, but it takes a long time to go to downtown especially you don't rent a car and have to take bus.

Great great hostel!!! I would definitely recommend it to anyone! The staff is ready to help you for anything (even for a cheap ride to the airport or rent a car). The location is just PERFECT!!! The only so so thing to me was the bathroom... shared and really no intimacy at all...

It was really nice to stay in this hostel, the staff is really friendly and they give you all the information you need. My room has a beautiful ocean view. The kitchen is not so big but for that reason is like stay at home!

Here's the deal, this hostel is in a great location with exception of the bar it's sits on top of. The staff are friendly and helpful no doubt. However, if you have a room on the second floor you will not be able to go to sleep till 2 am due to the music from the bar downstairs. So if you can't beat em, join em right? Well if your in the mood for joinin em it's cool, but if you've got better things to do, your sleep schedule being dictated by the bar downstairs sucks.

Nice hostel with very friendly staff and clean rooms and bathrooms, also the beds were really comfy. A lot of bars and restaurants close by which is good but you also hear the loud music to your room. There was a little breakfast included, mainly toast with peanut butter and jam. We had a car and had to park it quite far to get free parking which was a little bit annoying but close to where we had to park there was a good supermarket in where you got a discount when you stayed at Surf City.

Best Hostel EVER! I stayed in a 6-Bed Female Dorm and it was awesome. I had the most amazing sea view. ;) The people I met were really cool. The staff is very friendly, fun and helpful. The place is perfect: Hermosa Beach is gorgeous! And if you stay there during low season, there isn't as much noise from the bars. But if you're sensitive, you should bring ear plugs. ;) All in all, I really enjoyed it and I will definitely recommend this Hostel!

i was only there for a night but made friends straight away with people hanging out there. the place is kept pretty clean and it's bang on the beach. if you can handle a laid back surf culture hostel then this is great. it's an old building but that just gives it some character. there's free parking up the street or you can park behind the hostel but you have to pay. you can ride bikes up to Santa Monica along the beach.
