Great place to Beach party

Superbly located hostel, right on a fantastic beach and surrounded by vibrant bars and restaurants, in what feels like a very safe area. Staff very helpful, providing guests with beach towels and body/boogie boards free of charge. Bedrooms quite small however, and with few showers/toilets per floor. Extremely noisy at night (in my 1st floor, street-facing room) until 1am though, as the bars' bass comes directly through the floor and the windows - although if you're out partying, no problem!

Good location, with beach, pub, restaurants, shops,and so on. Not far from airport.

We had a great time there, spent a whole week in a super hostel! Nice staff, clean rooms, awesome location. International audience, I heard english, german, french, spanish etc. :) Especially if you're travelling alone, this is the perfect place to stay. You meet a lot of people in the kitchen (real kitchen, everything's there to cook), the TV room or the "living room"

Great place to stay, but very pokey. Not a great deal of room. However the staff were superb and helped me out of a jam on a very. very frustrating day. Gets noisy at night in the plaza below, but you are guaranteed the partying will stop at 2am, no later, as the local by-laws are very strict. If I went to LA I'd stay there again for sure.

Very nice location on the Beach, but far away from Downtown and the Greyhoundbus Station. So if you plan to go to Downtown check another Hostel, but for a Beach Vacation it´s perfect. Very safe area, many Bars and Restaurants. The rooms are okay, bathroom was clean.

Perfect hostel! Location is very good - exclusively nice houses, cool bars, good beach! The hostel is very (!) clean, the bathroom is unisex .. :) ..., the rooms are not the biggest, but it's perfect for travelers who search hostels and who don't really need luxury big rooms and for that price you won't get such nice rooms and such a good location at Hermosa Beach. Definitely worth a stay!!!

I had a blast staying here. It's a small place so you have a great chance to meet people. I would definitely stay here again. Right on the beach!!!

We were given a room with two live in residents so we had no space whatsoever and felt as though we were living in someone else's bedroom, this was quite uncomfortable and unwelcoming

Hey together!! It was a relaxing and funny stay at the surf city hostel. My problem was that I didn't like it that much in Hermosa. I drove every day to santa monica because there was way more going on. Hermosa is really quiet. Little shopping and nightlife possibilities (my opinion). Further there was no computer and no lockers in the hostel. BUT, it was direct to the beach and the people there are very nice and helpfull :) greez
